The speeds are almost the same.... hovering around 180 KBps..... Things I liked about bridge mode......
here is how you configure bridge mode...... just make sure you back up the settings from management menu in case something goes wrong..... ALSO have your bsnl ID, password with you, the mail ID supplied by bsnl i mean not the portal id used to check usage...... ![]() The little I know about Dataone Broadband Services offered by BSNL STEPS TO CREATE A DIALER IN XP SP2......... 1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network and Internet Connections. 2. Click Network Connections, and then click Create a new connection in the Network Tasks pane. 3. After the Network Connection Wizard starts, click Next. 4. Click Connect to the Internet, and then click Next. 5. Click Set up my connection manually, and then click Next. 6. Click Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password 7. Type the Internet service provider (ISP) name (BSNL) and then click Next. 8. Type the user name that the BSNL provided. (bsnl mail id without "@bsnl.in". 9. Type the password that the BSNL provided. 10. Type the password one more time to confirm it, and then click Next. 11. Click Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop. 12. Click Finish to complete the wizard. That's it..... just open the shortcut on desktop and click connect........... Also make sure the properties of the dialer is as below........ ![]()

Rep Power: 1 | Dude is this called bridge mode....???? am already using this....And this is PPPoe mode.....wen u tick for "connect using bb that requires username and pass"-below its given -this is known as PPPOE.....!!!!! The only thing is i havent selected is bridge in the modem...instead i hav left the username and pass blank in PPPOE mode itself....so it does not autoconnect..... If u are using more than 1 pc(using LAN),selecting bridge in the modem will help..as users can connect wen they req, thus saving the bandwidth for others who r using....for a single connection---no changes will be there for PPPOE or bridge......this is what i hav understood from what u hav said... whats the use of saving bandwidth man???? use al the available bandwidth !!!! can u exlain me how auto downlading is done using this?????? |

If you use DMZ to forward ports, it's pppoe mode..... I haven't tried but I think we can create a dialler for pppoe mode also (like you said dialling with a password without storing in the mdem....) In pppoe mode, our IP becomes the LAN IP, like 192.168.1.2...... Whereas in bridge mode our IP is the external WAN IP itself...... This is the reason why we don't need to forward ports in bridge mode...... If you are still unsure of whether you are using bridge or pppoe go to command prompt and type "ipconfig/all"............. Just log into your modem, Advanced setup > WAN > see what is the protocol in the first row corresponding to VPI/VCI value 0/35.... It will be your protocol.............

Rep Power: 1 | Its given as PPPOE.....as far as i know,if u leave the username and pass blank in the PPPOe setup, and use the dialer--its same as using bridge mode.. where as bridge does not giv a option to use username and pass...bridge is only useful for connecting bb for 2pc ...this is what i know |

Did u check from utorrent whether port is forwarded correctly? Sometimes I have seen the port forward icon in utorrent green even without enabling DMZ in pppoe mode........... Also, are you able to change your IP by just disconnecting and connecting back the dialler??

Rep Power: 1 | if the line perfect,u need not use anything,,,,it will happen by itself.....if it turns green, yer connection is working fine,,,,,,,,the port opening depends on many things......it opens only wen u hav logged into some 100+ nodes....so it will take some time to login into them....so it will open aftr u open the application for some time..... yes...if i disconnect and connect it again-new ip is got ......for frequent disconnection problems, the dialling thing is good....also u can disconnect wen not using it(but keeping the modem on),which is not the case in autoconnect thing(where the username and pass is stored in the modem itself) |

Today I tried bridge mode with all the modulation modes enabled...... Getting around 180-190 KBps speeds most of the time......... Line rates also increased...... [IMG][/IMG] I'm planning to do a rewiring of the telephone lines also shortly......... A bit busy at the moment......... I will post any improvement ASAP....... By the way I also tried Bitcomet today..... Speeds touched around 200-210 KBps..... But you know, it's not very reliable when it comes to speeds that you see..... I used to get 260-270 KBps during my good old times with Bitcomet.... But left it for good...........
