Your modem must have come configured for bridge mode then........
    Just log into your modem,
    Advanced setup > WAN >
see what is the protocol in the first row corresponding to VPI/VCI value 0/35....

    It will be your protocol.............

Its given as PPPOE.....as far as i know,if u leave the username and pass blank in the PPPOe setup, and use the dialer--its same as using bridge mode.. where as bridge does not giv a option to use username and pass...bridge is only useful for connecting bb for 2pc ...this is what i know

Yes, that's what I also thought..... My doubt is how you did the port forwarding without being in DMZ or bridge mode????
Did u check from utorrent whether port is forwarded correctly?
Sometimes I have seen the port forward icon in utorrent green even without enabling DMZ in pppoe mode...........

Also, are you able to change your IP by just disconnecting and connecting back the dialler??

if the line perfect,u need not use anything,,,,it will happen by itself.....if it turns green, yer connection is working fine,,,,,,,,the port opening depends on many things......it opens only wen u hav logged into some 100+ nodes....so it will take some time to login into them....so it will open aftr u open the application for some time.....

yes...if i disconnect and connect it again-new ip is got ......for frequent disconnection problems, the dialling thing is good....also u can disconnect wen not using it(but keeping the modem on),which is not the case in autoconnect thing(where the username and pass is stored in the modem itself)

If your IP changes everytime you disconnect and connect back in, then you can use the night download method i preferred........

DMZ opens up all your ports...... Like I said I have seen the utorrent icon green, but when I check the port forwarding, it says not forwarded until I enable DMZ..........

I have been waiting for 4 months now.... still no change.......
Today I tried bridge mode with all the modulation modes enabled...... Getting around 180-190 KBps speeds most of the time.........
    Line rates also increased......

    [IMG][/IMG]

I'm planning to do a rewiring of the telephone lines also shortly.........
A bit busy at the moment......... I will post any improvement ASAP.......

By the way I also tried Bitcomet today..... Speeds touched around 200-210 KBps..... But you know, it's not very reliable when it comes to speeds that you see..... I used to get 260-270 KBps during my good old times with Bitcomet.... But left it for good...........

i use bittorrent and utorrent simultaneously..... it will use use complete bandwidth....if one has less seeds, the speed will be compensated by other torrents whick are being dlded....

    Line rates with G.Dmt.........

Line rates with all modes enabled..........

I don't think using two torrent clients will do any good...... What I do is dwnload 10-12 torrents simultanoeusly.........

Anything is worth a try with bsnl broadband.....
If you are afraid to do some tweaks then you can live with what bsnl offers......

no matter what you do BSNL Says MAX 2 mbps.... so even it gives you 1 Mbps you cant complain and you will have to live with it.
BSNL is not offering these for free...... we are actually paying twice or thrice the amount being paid in US or Japan......

I personally know my friend is Germany who gets a 16 Mbps unlimited line there for 30 euros (Rs.2100 approx)............. He says it's just a basic plan there.............

When we pay for a 2 Mbps line, we should be getting atleast 1.8 Mbps........... If not, there's something wrong...............

There may be people who are satisfied getting 32 KBps speeds for HOME 500...... Not everyone...... That's why this is one of the most active forums on internet.....
Just try googling for anything concerned with broadband in India and you are sure to come across atleast 3 results from Indiabroadband in the top 10...

I agree about pricing model but you can't compare. Because price of Broadband is calculated by N number for things and is bound to varry in different countries and by tis laws.

And about speed. MAX 2 mbps you can get no matter what settings you do in router. and BSNL has clearly mentioned its UPTO 2 mbps.. so even if they give 512 kbps or even 1 mbps or 1.5 mbps you or me or WE dont have any right to lodge a complaint against them. so chill :P

right.... pricing is something we cannot take into account.....
i just meant to say we are paying for it anyway.........

think logically yaar,...u used to get 220-230 KBps with old settings..so how can a settings in your modem will change the speed for you ? It has nothing to do with your settings...everything depends on settings from BSNL at their end and not yours. So even if you change settings 10000 times , you wont get back your old speed unless BSNL makes some changes at their end. In the end you are waisting you time and efforts

And its UPTO 2 mbps so dont wonder even if you get 300 kbps

    Monitor your download speed continuously.
    Say this forum/a web site/ video file/ torrents/Windows D/L etc .
You don't get constant speed all the time

lolzzz i was refering to Attainable Rate as shown in router page... i know my plan us UL 750+ so i cant get speed more than 235Kbps

And all those softwares which claims to boost internet speed and all are just bullshit...you cant get more than what your ISP provides.
