Anything is worth a try with bsnl broadband.....
If you are afraid to do some tweaks then you can live with what bsnl offers......

no matter what you do BSNL Says MAX 2 mbps.... so even it gives you 1 Mbps you cant complain and you will have to live with it.
BSNL is not offering these for free...... we are actually paying twice or thrice the amount being paid in US or Japan......

I personally know my friend is Germany who gets a 16 Mbps unlimited line there for 30 euros (Rs.2100 approx)............. He says it's just a basic plan there.............

When we pay for a 2 Mbps line, we should be getting atleast 1.8 Mbps........... If not, there's something wrong...............

There may be people who are satisfied getting 32 KBps speeds for HOME 500...... Not everyone...... That's why this is one of the most active forums on internet.....
Just try googling for anything concerned with broadband in India and you are sure to come across atleast 3 results from Indiabroadband in the top 10...

I agree about pricing model but you can't compare. Because price of Broadband is calculated by N number for things and is bound to varry in different countries and by tis laws.

And about speed. MAX 2 mbps you can get no matter what settings you do in router. and BSNL has clearly mentioned its UPTO 2 mbps.. so even if they give 512 kbps or even 1 mbps or 1.5 mbps you or me or WE dont have any right to lodge a complaint against them. so chill :P

think logically yaar,...u used to get 220-230 KBps with old settings..so how can a settings in your modem will change the speed for you ? It has nothing to do with your settings...everything depends on settings from BSNL at their end and not yours. So even if you change settings 10000 times , you wont get back your old speed unless BSNL makes some changes at their end. In the end you are waisting you time and efforts

And its UPTO 2 mbps so dont wonder even if you get 300 kbps

Monitor your download speed continuously.
Say this forum/a web site/ video file/ torrents/Windows D/L etc .
You don't get constant speed all the time

lolzzz i was refering to Attainable Rate as shown in router page... i know my plan us UL 750+ so i cant get speed more than 235Kbps

And all those softwares which claims to boost internet speed and all are just bullshit...you cant get more than what your ISP provides.

Please post screen shot of modem page containing above data if still available now

Also whether you have seen these figures change
if different Mod mode selected.
The above appears to be on Adsl2+.

Recommended GDMT for stable connection.
Understand your ISP/tariff plan speed max is 256Kbps

TCP/IP optimizer from speedguide.net
fine tunes your speed.
