I tried to connect 2 computers into my system using my onboard LAN (brother used his onboard LAN to connect to me) and a Belkin NIC with crossover cable. When i created an in game server only one of the other two systems could log onto the server at any one time, i tried putting two NICs into the system without onboard LAN and still got the same problems. When last i used the LAN (2 systems) i just put a NIC in the other system connected the crossover cable and we started gaming no mess, fuss just frags. Is it possible to connect two PCs to my system using onboard LAN and a NIC using crossover cable? Two PCs on XP Pro one on WK2, all NICs/onboard LAN working ok. It just isnt that simply, or is it me

A crossover cable works for only two computers. You will need a router or switch/hub to connect 3 or more computers.

my understanding is, if you have 2 NIC on game server, you can use cross over cable to connect to two different machines directly whether you are using static IP's or getting those through APIPA -Roy
