Exclamation BSNL person asking for Bribe

hi guys i am new to this site and i want to inform my experience to others so that they be careful. I was a hathway internet user, As I came to know about BSNL 20% discount scheme I applied for home UL750 + plan and I also had my own modem. After 5 days of applying for connection a person called me from bsnl and came to my house, he came all alone shaking his hand freely and I explained him where the connection is to be given. He asked for modem and I showed him the modem(UTstarcom UT-300R2) he started telling there is lot of work so how much r u ready to pay, I said BSNL is charging 250 for installation then why should I pay. He said that is different and this is different he said if u r ready to pay Rs.500 I will get the lineman & start the work immediately or u connect it ur self. I said fine I'll do it my self.
I called up to customer care no.1500 as usual they picked the call after 10 times i rang to the same no. I then explained them abt the drama . They said do not pay anything u complaint to AGM and gave me the phone no. I called to AGM office at ulsoor, their PA gave me the Indiranagar BSNL office no. and asked me to complaint to the Divisional Engg outdoor, I went to him and complained regarding this matter he spoke very negligently and later said u take the help of JTO in the next room. I went to JTO he asked me to get my modem, I came back home and took the modem their a madam was sitting there, she just connected the modem to configure and with in a minute she said ur modem is not working , why don't u buy a bsnl modem? I said fine ill think over it & gey back to u and came off from their.
I the night with the help of indiabroadband.net forums I learned how to configure the modem and i did it, but it was showing ADSL link down, so i called the technical support of bsnl they registered a complaint. After 2 days the same person who asked me for bribe called me & said is ur BB working I said no i have given a complaint he said no every thing is fine, u have ur own modem u should connect it properly and after some time even my phone line was dead. I think this is the worst experience I ever had a person (i guess he is line man) has so much control that he is capable of troubling a customer so much..... so guys beware when ur going for BSNL connection be ready to shell out an extra 300 to 500 rs .If that person calls me back i will ask that person to come and do the work and i will pay that fellow the money he asked for and get rid of this nuisance and may be after few months ill disconnect the complete BSNL connection and Ill go for some private ISP provider as their service is much better than BSNL.

just place a complaint and get a signed copy ....if you run away from corruption it won’t stop ..rather fight it. best way is to submit that signed copy and wait for response... also you can mail the big boss of BSNL and also to consumer court

u can get phone number and Email ID from BSNL site for your exchange.

I had an even bitter experience... though nothing to do with bribing but as u said i went in to go for the written complaint, with date and sign from the concerned person and it took me almost 15 days of running around from one office to another and speaking to every other official like a radio....
3 months past, the complaint is still pending...
    dats BSNL for u.... :22:

I had the same problem like you did, and even after paying the line man 250 bucks on the side my problem wasn't sorted out , I gave up , switched to Airtel , I have been happy ever since , If Airtel is available in your area I suggest you switch to it ASAP .

I was being specific to the comment so did not mention my details of complaint. It was kind of an example hinting "NO USE", it was excess billing.
I have taken note of your suggestion too, thanks for the help

Really sorry that you had to go thru all these mess. I think the functioning of the same dept varies from region wise. I won't say that I was not perturbed by BSNL but was to lesser extend. I am from TVM, Kerala. Now a days every govn dept has a formal way to lodge a complain - It's different matter that its almost dysfunctional. Hope that telephone vigilance hxxp://210.212.169.197/vigilance/ will be of any help to you.

Default Bribe or Shift to Airtel Else Nothing Happens

    Hi

Please do not go for BSNL Broadband..
Airtel might be costly but you have a swift response from thier customer care.

For a shift , it took me 23 days and some bribing.
The wire was not pulled properly from the post and it plugged off in a few days..

I could not even complain easily as the only way of reaching them is through 1500 from a BSNL LANDLINE... Will you believe me, there are no BSNL telephones in most of the PCOs..MOst of them are airtel...Then how the hell could i register a complaint after all..

I am heavily disappointed and angry at the BSNL guys...

    I feel like laughing when i see the ad ," BSNL 3G - A Generation Ahead "....

Infact they are 2G behind in terms of customer service....

i can understand this..i was also frustrated before i switched to BSNL.

it all depends on your location. here in my area , BSNL rocks and others sucks in terms of connectivity.

So no ISP here is good, its matter of which ISP is good in your area.

Dude ur approach is not acceptable, How can an AGM talk to line man. If u r complaining to AGM then it should be atleast against GM level, then PA would have definitely given receiver to AGM. U should have first made a call and complained to SDE against lineman, he would only have sorted out. If he does not then u should call GM and complain aginst SDE. Once i had faced such a problem and had complained GM against an JTO, next day JTO himself came early morning and sorted out my line problem.

Default We have better duty to do!

I think it is impossible to eradicate corruption in INDIA.

Remove this thinking. First of all I appreciate you oscillating from Call Centre to AGM to DE and JTO who finally made your tel line dead as you have not paid bribe.

My telephone line is dead since last 5 years or more as I have not paid bribe of INR 500 to Area Manager Rural Nagpur and I am proud to do so. Friend, like you too, i moved from JTO to SDE, DE Vigilance, PGM, GM, CGM and CMD and TRAI and my fight is still continuing. My fight is not for telephone but for head of BSNL CMD.

Because of such calluous officer only, BSNL is Bribe Sanchar Nigam Limited. I have reported 26 bribe transactions in BSNL Nagpur, illegal telephone connections, illegal calls from exchange and Internet Dhaba scam and BSNL CMD is enjoying Bribe Revenue sharing agreement.

So I suggest you to - write a formal complaint to BSNL CMD and mark copies to lineman and then to JTO, SDE, DE, AGM, PGM, CGM, TRAI, Local ACB of CBI and CVC. Let them know, that all people are not corrupt. Don't know, whether it will get you connected to net, but we have to tell name of corrupt officers to at least 500 people at our own cost.
