Default Help! Setting up wired connection for the desktop

    Here is my problem:
I have a desktop and 2 laptops with Huawei WA1003A modem configured in PPPoE mode.
My desktop crashed recently and I had to get the C drive formatted and Windows reinstalled.
My laptops connect to the internet fine without any issues. I have manually setup the IP address for them in TCP/IP properties as 192.168.1.3 and 192.168.1.4 as shown in attached.
Now I'm trying to set up the properties for my desktop to connect to the internet. I gave the manual IP address as 192.168.1.2 and set it up and the LAN icon shows as connected. However, it doesnt connect to the net. Even when I try to access the router IP from the browser 192.168.1.1 it says 'Page cannot be displayed'. I'm not sure what settings I need to make to get my desktop connect to the internet and I have forgotten what the working settings were earlier before my desktop crashed. Please help!

    Default

    In modem Enable DHCP
    Range 192.168.1.2 to say 192.168.1.6
    All systems ;
    IN TCP/IP properties
select Obtain IP address automatically in ALL systems.
    Also add OpenDNS 208.67.222.222
    Apply Save
    Start/Network
    Show all connections.
In desktop LAN network should appear.

In your desktop select "Obtain IP address automatically" and try.

Are you connecting your Laptops through Wi-Fi?

essbebe and deepmohan, I tried both your suggestions but it doesnt work.
When I choose 'Obtain IP address automatically' in TCP/IP settings, the icon says 'Limited or No connectivity'.
If I change this setting and give 192.168.1.2 or similar, it says 'Connected and speed 10MBPS' but still internet doesnt work and am not able to connect to the router homepage 192.168.1.1 itself. (Even if I disconnect the LAN cable, this icon still shows as 'Connected')
I also tried connecting the ethernet cable to my laptop (instead of desktop) and disabled wireless. Here too, net doesnt work thru the direct ethernet connection on the laptop.
    Please help!

and yes.. I connect my laptops through wireless and it work perfectly fine!

Default 192.168.1.1 not accessed No LAN/ wifi working

My ISP connection/modem/ and wifi router are OFF.
Now I am connected to Internet via my friend's WIFI connection.!

Probably you are getting connected in a different WIFI network.
The name of your NETWORK say "Jammy" or "Utstar"
should appear in "Show available wireless Networks."

    2. Para two:
How do you connect ? IN "Dialer 'Bridged'"Mode Or "Always On PPPoE" mode?
    3
When you are connected to Internet in WIFI mode
Type in Browser address bar Current IP Check
Note your Dynamic IP . say 59.xx.xx.xx
Type it in address bar .
A Window will open to access your modem
    IF successful enter admin admin

    THEN
Check the VPI/VCI selected for BSNL :it is 0 and 35.
Save Present router settings to say C:/My Documents/WIFI working
( see under tools or management)

RESET the modem to factory settings.
Use Dialer. ( usually link 0_35 will be in "Bridged" mode.)
    Enter UserID and Password.

Confirm You get connected in LAN mode desktop or laptop.
