    Default Need suggestion about Linksys WAG54G2

    I have a UL 1350 BB plan and im planning to buy a new ADSL Wi-Fi router. I am planning to buy the Linksys WAG54G2. I would be connecting 2 desktops (Wired) and 1 laptop (Wireless). I would also need to be connected to the office VPN on the laptop.
    So please suggest if this a good router to buy. Its costing me about Rs 3500.
    Also if possible, please let me know if VPN can be connected if the router is configured in the Bridged Mode.
    Thanks,
    Albin

    Cisco is good one if u have Type 1 Modem from BSNL or else you can upgrade to TYPE 2 modem at less price 1800 only.

    Keep Bsnl supplied adsl modem as standby
    what is the make & model) with present settings.
    Try the Linksy's adsl2 modem+ wif router to connect desktop
    in lan mode/wifi mode. .
    VPN can wait.

    That's already an ADSL2+ Gateway and router you got there and you shouldn't even need to bridge it for VPN because it already has settings just for that sort of need. Just load the GUI and go to the security tab and click on VPN Passthrough. But you should preferably have a static IP on the PC/laptop from which you are gonna use the VPN.

    If you bridge any modem you should be able to use VPN from the pc on which you have the connectoid to connect to the internet provided you don't have firewall issues on that system. In your case though, bridging would render it unusable for the multiple systems you have because you'd be able to connect only one at a time. You don't have to bridge it anyways.

    I guess if the router is set to PPPOE mode instead of Bridged, then connectivity to multiple systems should not be an issue

    What's the best way to setup the connection .

    PRONET BSNL Router PPPOE<-->WAG54G2<-->PC1&PC2[Wired] Laptop[Wireless]

    WAG54G2 PPPOE <-->PC1&PC2[Wired] Laptop[Wireless]

    I am thinking of having a similar setup at home.

    Could people also comment about WAG54G2 vs DLink DIR-300 maybe a topic for a separate thread !

    Top Priority is Signal strength , and Ease of Setup .

    WAG54G2 - RS 3500
    DLink DIR-300 - RS 2000

    WAG54G2 is (3-in 1) adsl modem+router + wifi.
    can be set as stand alone unit.
    Please post as jpg screenshot device info page
    or WAN page
    of Pronet adsl modem.
    model number also.
    No details available in company's website.

    The Pronet ADSL 2+ Router's model no: PN-ADSL101E.
    But as essbebe said, WAG54G2 already has modem and router, so it can used as standalone. I can just keep the Pronet one as backup.
    So i guess the best setup would be : WAG54G2 PPPOE <--> PC1&PC2[Wired] Laptop[Wireless]
    I should have the unit with me in a weeks time. I will test it once i lay my hands on it.

    C:/My Documents/Pronet VPN working.
    ( Menu Tools /or Maintainence in modem )

    3. Also try this when connected to internet
    http://192.168.1.1/ppppassword.html
