Thread: BSNL Broadband plan help?

Hi, I recently started using bsnl broadband service by the plan Homecombo750 unlimited which is supposed to give max speed of 256kbps with no download/upload limit.Actually,I previously used Reliance dial-up connection which had max speed of 230kbps and was also unlimited.With that plan,I used to get download speed of 10-15 kbps while using utorrent or other programs but now I get speed ranging from 16-26kbps.I wanted to confirm if I was using the right plan which I had applied for as the diff between surfing and download speed of two connections appear to be very large.
How can I get to know about my exact broadband plan so that I can download without any fear of huge bills after the month?Can the bsnl broadband service be reliable ?

Presume it is Home 750U/L plan . 24/7 free d/l u/l Phone calls as per existing plan.

You should get a portalD to log in( 14digit and PW as password )( SECOND set)
from CC exchange or JTO.
Different to the userID pw YOU USE NOW. ( FIRST set)
3RD SET wIll be for emailId abcd @bsnl.in PW

If you get speeds upto 30 kbps, your plan is 750 unlimited only because for limited plans the speeds can reach upto 230 kbps. Anyway you can check which is your plan by logging into BSNL Portal or by calling customer service 1500

1bit = 1b
8bits = 1Byte =1B
1024kB =1MB
256kbps = 32kBps

here small "b=bits" and "B=bytes"

according to ur plan 750combo u should get download speed around 30kBps in browser and around 25kBps in torrent its most natural
in torrent speed varies because of seeds and peers and u get the speed around 29 kBps some times

as per ur plan u get monthly bill of 750 + 90(10.20% service tax)
and extra charges to call made by you

N second thing is, is the user id u meant is same as the one i use to dial to connect the net...??

1. To check the plan, log in to data.bsnl.in using your 14 digit portal ID and password. Under my orders, enter the telephone no in the prescribed format and check.

2. Portal ID and user ID are different. If you don't have it, check with your local exchange.
