Thread: Modem syncs with a very low downstream rate

I have H500 plan so I should get 2048 kbps downstream rate. I used to get it untill last september. But since October I am getting less than 1500 kbps, and the attainable rate is also below 1800 kbps, which should have been above 2500 kbps. The router is also getting disconnected very frequently. I tried everything to set it right. I got my DSLAM port changed, got a new modem and a new splitter. My telephone line was also checked. When the router tries to sync with the DSLAM, if I lift the phone receiver I hear a sharp shrill sound, and the line gets too noisy. But when the router is turned off there is no audible noise on the line at all. Please suggest some solutions. Even my friend also has the same problem, even though he lives very near the exchange (2kms). But his modem doesn't remain sync for one minute also. Because the router remains sync slightly better if someones number is dialed, he always keeps on calling his own mobile phone for a long time.
