Thread: Airtel Modem for BSNL connection - problem

Hi,

I have gone through posts to use one modem with other connection, but I have a little problem.
I have airtel - Huawei Smartax mt880 modem.
I have applied for BSNL connection and before getting connection I wanted to reset the modem's setting.

1. So I powered on the modem
2. connected PC with modem (there is no input connection for modem, only output connection to pc)
3. Pressed reset button and lights blinked twice or thrice (pressed for 10 sec).
4. typed 198.168.1.1
5. then prompted for username and password
6. entered "admin" and "admin" (without quotes)


Problem - its not taking the username and password
Is it correct username and password ?
Or am I doing something incorrect procedure?

typed 198.168.1.1

Presume typing error. try 192.168.1.1 admin admin
or
If it was supplied by Airtel try admin PW as password.

Since you had reset the modem try for Airtel as given below.

When you access the modem settings
in Summary page you will find 0_35 connected in "Bridged"
This is for BSNL. for Airtel 1 and 32 ( VPI VCI)

Use External dialer to enter BSNL supplied UserID and PW
when connecting to BSNL telephone/BB connection.

Type in search box above AxMt880 or AX Mt882 for old threads.
Both, almost same.
