Default Type and quality of modem?

Hi,I recently started using bsnl bb.I've got a modem which is from ZTE corporation(Probably a chinese modem as Made In China is written over it.)The model no. is ZXDSL 831A11.It has a "switch off-Switch-on" system and internet starts only after glowing light in DSL portion gets stable.I wanted to know if it is a Bridged modem or a PpoE modem and what are its pros/cons?Is anyone using the same modem? If so,please tell about your experiences with it.Mine is working fine till now.

It seems you are configured in PPPoE mode (always on) in which no dialer is required to get connected to internet.

I presume that you click the connect button every time. If so you are in Bridge mode. Bridge mode is less secure than PPPoE mode. But it has its own benefits like no port forwarding required.

As far as I know we are behind NAT in PPPoE which is considered more secure.
