    Quite possible. They have a group for it and they always find means for improvement. Some of the work is automated and billing data pulled by a vender for making the bills, may be.

    Hi arpit,

    I am a user from Hyderabad. BSNL has updated its billing servers (Only for Hyderabad) in July 2009 and since then, we need not restart our modems or even logout and relogin after 2.00 am to start free downloads. The billing software takes care of that by itself. The only disadvantage is that earlier we could download till 8.29 am without being charged (if we started at 7.59 am) but now there is no chance for that.
    Here are a few screenshots of the new billing system. Check out the transition at 2.00 am and 8.00 am is seamless and without any disconnections.

    @deepmohan
    For Chennai there is no different usage Portal.
    Confirm the portal is BSNL Portal
    Screenshot in Post No 1 confirms this.

    @deepmohan
    So you mean even you don't need to restart the modem or the connection at 2.00? If so, thats good. No more incorrect billing.

    i was also a victim of this software upgradation.
    i was billed excess due to my negligence.

    Any way from now there is no need to restart modem after 2:00 am.
    but you have to make sure that your download sops at 8:00 am exactly
    or else ur download will be charged
