Default Fluctuating latency and packet loss every 15-20 seconds for the last 2-3 days

Anyone know what could be causing this ?

I've tried pinging multiple websites and I keep experiencing this.

I have tried open dns but I don't see much difference.

    I'm using a Huawei MT841:

    12.1/29 dB SNR
    35/25 dB attenuation

    data path fast
    operation mode G.Dmt.BisPlus
    Bandwidth Up/Down(Kbit/sec) 501/6143

alright i restarted my modem and moved it away from my UPS

    Bandwidth Up/Down(Kbit/sec) 639/6143
    SNR Up/Down 18.5 dB/27.5 dB
    Attenuation Up/Down 3.5 dB /23.0 dB

The packet loss problem went down to 1% from about 6%

Latency is fluctuating bit less, but there is still some fluctuation.

    1.Good idea.
Any cordless phone /cellphone/ nearby with mains adapters (smps)plugged in ?
    2.
Try GDMT. If option to select single Mod mode available.
    3.
    Presume you use ADSL splitter.

    Thanks essbebe.

The problem seems to crop up at completely random times in the day. So, the connection will be fine for 4-5 hours then suddenly there will be periods of heavy packet loss and latency.

    No.

alright in the modem config page i see :

advanced -> ADSL configurations -> drop down box -> G.Dmt [it is currently set to ADSL2+ ]

    should i change this to G.Dmt ?

    I also see :
    EC/FDM Mode: EC Mode
    BitSwap: Disabled

Should I change any of these ?

Also btw right now current SNR = 18.5 dB/26.5 dB
    attenuation 3.5 dB /23.0 dB
moderate packet loss (2 packets dropped every 30 seconds or so).

    YES.
    BitSwap: Disabled
    Enable it.
    Save Reboot.
    Recheck SNR/ATTN/
    2.
You may also try Google dns 8.8.8.8
    and open dns 208.67.222.222
