    Mention modem/model/make/number.

If the modem settings pages open

    and

    In computer
    Start RUN type cmd Ok
    New window
    type ipconfig /all

    hi,

I am using Nokia Siemens C2110

I already checked all these . I can assure you that there is no wrong settings in my side....Telephone is working fine....I am connected in the network but no internet.

It stopped working suddenly....I am sure it has got some problem with their PPP server .

As of now , I don't have the exact data which you are asking ....but All those diagnostics checks I already did .

I cheked also Modem Troubleshooting page...run diagonistics checks ...ping etc.

I can't copy the exact data right now ...because system is not at hand right now.....

but some of the observations I remembered ...

it has a failure with their ppp server probabily
no WAN IP address is picked up automatically ! though I am using PPPoE always On mode ! ...I am surprised to see this!

from the system I typed : cmd > ping google.com ==> no host google.com found.

I have a friend who lives in the same city bit distant from my location . he is getting the net .I helped him to set the config earlier .... I also validated pppoe modem settings line by line with him thinking that may be settings got changed but nothing changed ! still the problem is not resolved.

I cheked with Laptop and also in desktop but none worked.

I am sure , it has got some problem with their PPP server ..at their end .

by the way , what does the BSNL fault menu 4 i.e "All Modem lights are glowing ok ... But web page not displayed" means ? I logged my fault against this menu by dialing 1500 because this exactly matches to me

looks like they have this standard error in their fault book . what does that means ?

if i remove the cable from the PC ....then PC/Data light probabily goes off ...if I remember correctly.

Can I post the fault docket number here ? may be if there is someone from BSNL can check the server connection .

    comments please.

    Thanks

Perhaps your SNR values are rather bad at single digit.
ensure that you don't have a phone before splitter-- then have a check Visually for any joints on your telephone incoming wire for joints.
if so request the section Junior Telecom Officer(JTO) for wire replacement or at least cleaning the joints once.

Thanks for the response. I would like to know why you are saying to do a redo configuration ?please look at those screen shots from my modem . what could be the possible reasons for not getting internet ?

ah , so you mean , to put the direct phone line to the modem itself ...no phone.

well, this looks a nice idea to try with .

so, I'll use the phone line to the modem and try to connect again . I'll update you my findings shortly. by the way, for your information , my telephone is working fine. I can call ..no issues.

    Thanks for the help

I thought you are not getting connected to Internet as per pictures/screenshots posted.

So don't bother and ignore the suggestion.

yea, anyway, I agree that's not what he wanted to mean . he just mentioned to "ensure" yea, I made some over and false assumption indeed...its my fault...by the way I have come up with some more R&D's . Does that point to identify the root cause of my problem by any way ?

    this line
    >>>ensure that you don't have a phone before splitter-- .

what my set up has is , a direct line ---->splitter--->one part goes to phone, another part goes to modem ......I just have this much .

I am not sure whether people have any other complex structures .

I did some more R&D's at my end. Are these of any worth ?

    trial 1:
    ------

From the splitter , I removed the line cable which goes to the phone..so, now only splitter ADSL cable to Modem remains ----->Modem Link blinking(not steady)

    trial 2:
    ------
Inserted direct line into the modem (no splitter) ---> Modem Link blinking( not steady)

    trial 3:
    ---------
all cables are in proper place .i.e phone cable , adsl cable , direct line all are in the splitter.--------->Modem Link steady !!! ...also all modem lights are steady

    but no internet

    That is not the way
connect the bsnl line to splitter at line socket. it has two more ports called Data(modem) and phone

connect modem at data(modem) and phone instrument at phone sockret
any additional phones also connect here only not on the direct line
For that you get double socket jacks for additional phones, they are sold in market. Hope it is clear now.

    @andromeda

Go through this diagram to understand how the splitter should be connected.

Don't be in a haste to purchase one. you would realize that it won't make much difference as others did after getting one. Of course it is my feeling.

Are you from Kolkata, which telephone exchange is near to you
As a BSNL agent I would like to help you. I am in Kolkata.

Follow and cheak the steps below

First Go to your Router GUI web pages. Then Click the Configuration then the Internet Connection. Cheak the WAN IP Address at the PVC Name pppoe_0_35

If there is no IP address then your router dosenot sign up with BSNL ISP. Cheak your user ID and password by go to the Edit option in pppoe_0_35.
But you say all lights are glowing ok. So I think your Router successfully sign in with BSNL ISP.
If the WAN IP Address is preasent then your have to cheak the DNS Client and DNS Relay option
Now Go to the Local Network (LAN) at your Router Configuration section. Then click the DNS Client . Cheak the DNS address present at the router or not. If not then add this DNS address 218.248.255.193
This DNS address for the Kolkata BSNL. This is the preferred DNS address.
Also cheak the DNS Relay. Is there any DNS address present or not. If not then add the above mention address.
If all the above stephs are OK then you have to cheak the IP Routing section.
Click the Services then click the IP Routing
Cheak the WAN Interface of IpPppoe_0_35 present or not. If there is no entry then it's mean you dont cheak on the Default Route at the pppoe section.

If all above stephs are OK then just Reset your Router and make the PPPoE entry again and remember to Cheak ON the Default Route Section.

where do I get this changed password ? it seems you have changed your password .

but , I am using the same password that has been supplied to me while taking the connection....so, I don't think I need to update anything.

Yea, I am from Kolkata ......Thanks a lot for looking at the problem. You gave me some hope ....my comments are in blue. As you are a BSNL kolkata Agent , can you please look at my fault docket number : M4688 (// I raised this fault docket by dialing 1500 ).

once again , thanks for your time and help.

Not able to signup with BSNL ISP mean you will get error 678 or error 691
But you mention that all lights are glowing ok. Cheak the DATA Lead, is it glowing.
DATA lead glowing means router get the WAN IP address.

I think it's better to RESET your router by preasing the RESET button.
After resetting the router go to Configuration then the Internet Connection and then Edit and set the entry pppoe_0_35 to bridge mode. Then Restart your router.
In the bridge mode you have to log in from PPPoE desktop. If the sign up not possible then you can see the error number 678 or 691

If you get the error 678 then it's mean the problem from your DSLAM in exchange
Your Router dose not get the PPP protocol
The DSLAM should need to restart or need to reset your DSLAM port.

The fault docket number recorded in your Telephone Exchange. This only see by your Telephone Exchange employe but not from the other exchange employe.
And remember that all BSNL employe not authosize to see the other's working field.
Every employe has his/her own working field. The person who is authorize to see the docket record will do his/her job.

I cheak your screen shot. Your screenshot saying
    Test ppp server connection FAIL
thats mean your router dont get the ppp protocol from the DSLAM
I think you will get 678 error if you try from the PPPoE from desktop.
You can test the Bridge mode

    Fault from the Exchange side
Make a another docket number today, right now

    Hi,

Thanks for the response and your time ...that was a brilliant analysis ...you are an awesome engineer .

    >>>Make a another docket number today, right now

I tried dialing 1500 again but its not letting me to do another one. ........it says , "your fault is already booked...your docket number is M4688 ".

By the way ,here i am also providing additional information of my internet connection pppoe_0_35 settings complete step (in case you need ). This worked earlier but now this does not work .....at the end you'll find there is no WAN IP address picked up automatically .

    step 1:
    -------

    step2:
    ------

    step3:
    -------

    step4:
    ------

user name removed in the screen below.

    step5:
    ------

see the last screen , no WAN IP address picked up automatically even in the "always on" condition . Even also I tried using "connect" button ....but still does not work anyway.

In step 5 if you click "Edit" do you go to step 1 again ?

Then Instead of PPPoE select "bridged"
    and use dialer mode.

Not getting the WAN IP address in PPPoE mode because of two reason.
one is error 678 and another is error 691

In your previous screen shot it's saying Test ppp server connection FAIL
Thats mean your router dosenot get the ppp protocol from your DSLAM in exchange.
If you dont get the PPP protocol then you will fiend the error 678

If possible set your router to Bridging mode at the Configure Connection Type in your step 2
    Then restart
Setup PPPoE in your desktop, try to log in from your PPPoE Desktop.
    Then cheak the error number

The step you mention above is OK and correct

Your docket number still not clear from your exchange, thats mean they still dont take any action. I think they will take the action from the next day.

Yes . In fact I took those screenshots using just EDIT button ... ...just to show you screencaps I used EDIT button and took the screencaps

Then Instead of PPPoE select "bridged"
