My internet has been running perfectly fine for the last few days, then suddenly a few hours ago there is massive packet loss and latency to even indian servers (yahoo.co.in)
[usually to yahoo.co.in i get a packet transit time of 60-70ms, right now im getting 237ms]
to Delhi
to Madrid
to San Francisco
This sort of thing happens every other day. Sometimes the problem goes away by trying to disconnect/reconnect a few times, or it clears up by itself, or it takes hours to fix.
Usually the modem is stuck on "dialing", "the remote computer did not respond" or "this username and/or password is invalid on the domain".
Modem Details
Huawei MT841
ADSL mode G.Dmt Bitswap enabled EC mode
SNR u/d :18.7 dB/27.0 dB
Attenuation u/d: 3.5 dB /23.0 dB
Windows XP, AVG antivirus
[BSNL Home 1000]
So basically with absolutely no warning and on a fairly regular basis there is disruption or lapses in their quality of service and no backup servers if there is any outage ?
Is this normal ?
Is there anything I can do to get more reliable service ?
