Thread: BSNL Home Combo 500 Night Speed dip.

Hi everyone,

Im a newbie here and i just got the BSNL BB home 500c connection a week ago. I tested for speed on speedtest.net during day for 2 to 3 times and it showed good speed upto 1.6 Mbps.

But as i start downloading during the free hours for this plan i.e., 2am-8am, the speed drops drastically to a meagre 200-400 kbps. And moreover, the torrents are crawling at 20-40 KBps throughout the night unlimited time.

Can anyone explain this behavior? Is it deliberate from BSNL to cut the download speed at night for free users of this plan?

Or am i missing something?

bro i am facing the same problem ihave also taken the new connection....
i want to know r u in the dataone mode of bsnl broadband or in other mode ..because bsnl i think is capping the download speed for new customers...

I have dataone connection with type 1 modem. Hell, now the phone is just not giving dial tone at all... it is just giving out noise since night.

yea you need to complain bro, I recently got a new connection as well and I am getting about 1.8Mbs at night hours. my plan is HOME1800(upto 2Mbps)

The latest news from me is that the phone was dead twice in 2 days but miraculously it was resolved on next working day everytime.

As far as capped download speed is concerned, i called BSNL customer care and i was told that the most common reason for less speed in night is the traffic from all the users of night unlimited plan.....

I request everyone to address this issue in this forum, is everyone from 500C or 500C+ are getting capped speeds in night????? I'm smelling something fishy, i think some smartys at BSNL are implementing this thing of capping download speeds at night for unlimited users!!!!!!!!!

i get 100-150KBps both in day and at night unlimited........

einstein0072008 do you ever try with Private torrent
If you try with private torrent the speed should not like this at night free hours

Private torrents is a good option only if we have good "Upload speeds" but my upload speed is very worse about 100-200 kbps which is surely less than my download speed of 300-400 kbps at night. Even if i use private torrents, they will block me once they know that i am leeching more that seeding

usually upload speed is less than Download speed.


in ur case try limiting ur download speed.
