Default slow speed bsnl 500 combo broadband

i have been using bsnl broadband 500 combo plan for past 1 year ,,i was using dataone broadband connection ..i used to get 250 kb/sec normal speed in torrent downloads..
due to some problem i got my broadband conection deactivated for a while..
i got it activated wid the same 500 combo plan 2 days go...but this time they have not activated it on the dataone but on a new system(i do n't know wat system , but i have heard from them that they are transferring new customer to the new system rather than old dataone system)......now main problem starts here on my new connection i am getting now maximum download rate of 190kb/sec..now i do not know wat is the problem ...so my ques to u is that why i am not getting the regular torrent speed of 250 kb/sec....
is bsnl also capping download speed in new connections....
please help me regarding this query...as i am very tensed..i do not wat d problem is ..dats why i came to u "the prestigious india broadband forum" for ur help...
    thank u

well that could be line problem, port not open, etc.

try port forwarding......tell ur router make/model.
may be ur port is not forwarded.......

    do u use pppoe mode????
    or bridge mode?

175 to 190kb/sec..is a good speed. remembers its not 2 Mbps connection. its UPTO 2 Mbps. so frankly speaking you cant complain for not getting 200Kbps+ speed.

Yes i understand what you are saying. it means for your old dataone connection you use to get connected at 1.9-2.0 Mbps and that's really good. But even if we assume that BSNL is capping the speeds then also we cant do anything as its clearly mentioned that speeds are Up To 2 Mbps. This is BSNL Anything can happen. In future they can even cap to 1 Mbps and still we cant complain unless they remove this "Up To"

so wat can i do for this slow speed.........
i am also paying same charge of 500inr as other customer are paying..i am not getting any discount in it....so why i am getting unfair treatment from the bsnl...why i am getting slow speed of 150 kb/sec.....why others are getting above 200 kb/sec...???
all other customers should also get the same speed in the range of 120 to 180 kb/sec....why there is unfair treatment?
    wat should i do????
because i know the bsnl guy will not help me in this case???
so should i file rti for this.........can i file rti fr my case??
so please give me ur suggestion please

I can understand your frustration. however if you file RTI or even case against BSNL you are going to loose it for sure.

Reason : Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.
    Bandwidth
    (wherever technically feasible)
They can give reason like earlier it was technically feasible but now its not.
Sorry dear, we can't help in this case. however try for other ISP.

and which isp should i go for...that provide gud download speed....bcoz i can spend around1500inr per month but not more than that....

bsnl is recommended even if u get low speed......

ya u can shift to 1000 plan..
or if u can then shift to 1800 plan.it has speed of 512kbps /upto 2mbps

thanks fr ur reply....i yesterday went to the bsnl officce n ask abt he slow speed problem to the jto...he said to me that bsnl is now capping donload speed on new server...he was sayin g that old dataone customers will also have their speed capped in fewe days as they r working on this.......so be prepare for slow speed in few daays.....
his reason fr this capping of speed was that bsnl servers are not able to handle the load thats why they r capping the download speed so that there is no high load on bsnl servers......n he also said that when the condition improves they will automatically increase the speed of the customers.........i know this is just a fa;lse reassurance.....

This is not a false reassurance, its pure business. BSNL has not hide anything from its customers. They have clearly mentioned its UPTO 2 Mbps. meaning , even in home 500C,C+ they can provide speed from 256Kbps to 2 Mbps. so even if they give say 300 Kbps you cant complain as they have already made it clear and not kept it hidden form customers.

The slow speed is due to large number of people who are using the same plan and who download during the Night Unlimited time. I changed my plan cause of that problem. I used to get Speeds of 40-50 kb/sec during the unlimited time. Im now happy in my Unlimited 750+ .

    Download: 0.47Mbps
Upload : 0.38Mbps..as per speedtest.net (couldn't post the forum link because this site didn't allow me due to my meagre post count)

This is the speed I have been getting for the past few days. I thought I would post it as a new thread, but found some fellowmates facing similar problems here. Up until few days the speedtest meter never clocked below say 1.5-1.8 megabits/sec (download); experts please shed some light on what could be the possible cause/solution.
