Default Nokia Siemens 1600 Wireless Router/Modem - poor signal strength / range

I recently purchased a Broadband plan from BSNL and the Nokia Siemens 1600 Residential Wireless Router/Modem. I am able to connect and surf wirelessly, and the signal strength is excellent when I am within 25 feet of the unit, however the signal strength drops is not very good beyond that point. Has anyone faced this issue? Could it be a defective unit or is it common problem for this model?

    Thanks

I use Nokia C2110 modem and Linksys WRT54G router . That works very nicely ...no complaint so far ....just my personal experience. it can cover 2 floors , 3 rooms with a strong signal strength.....I recommend this.

    Hi guys
I have recently purchased a bsnl broadband and nokia siemens residential router 1600.
My friend has a laptop and he is able to connect to me wirelessly by searching my network. i just want to know that (1)if i want to connect to a laptop from my pc then how to?
(2)And how to connect to another adsl router(which is also wireless and in range) wirelessly from mine?

i am not getting the wireless symbol which we get in laptop and my doubt is that my pc doesnt detect it as wireless though it is connected to my pc with ethernet cable.
    plz help.
    i am using windows7 and internet explorer8.

    Thank you in advance.

firstly set security for ur wifi or u will get huge bills(as ur friend uses ur wifi)

if after setting the security, make sure ur laptop is in rage, wifi is on and then try.
