I have been using H500 for nearly 22 months now..... Having tried almost every torrent client viz. utorrent, vuze, bittorrent, bitcomet..... my opinion is utorrent is the best.....
main reason is that utorrent shows the corrrect speeds unlike many other clients which show exagerrated speeds......

Since the last 6-7 months my speeds have gone down to about 170-180 Kbps from 220-230Kbps.....

I have been using utorrent from the beginning. Tried Vuze too but its not as good as utorrent. The speeds I used to get were 95-100 kBps when my speed was limited to 1mbps. Now I get speeds upto 175-180 kBps if I put more files for simultaneous download. Single torrent gives me not more than 120 kBps.

I use uTorrent, I get around 125-160 KBps speed!
Is there anyway to increase this speed? I'm using well seeded torrents...
I am also a member of private torrent site ( speed 160 KBps), but still I don't get much speed....

TCP optimizer is not gonna do much good.... This is BSNL.... there may be a 100 reasons for speed reduction.... My experience is if you do port forward(including firewall configuration) and get good torrents(prefarably private ones), you will get the best speeds....

I'm using bridge mode, so no need to portforward...
& as I already said I'm using private torrent....

sometimes tcp optimizer does it all.....it helps.....

and 100 reasons cannot be for speed reduction.

Port forwarding helps best in pppoe mode.........in bridge mode all ports are open.

    @Sumit020
which mode do u use????Bridge mode or PPPoe mode????

Utorrent is supposedly the best client; marginally better than vuze.

However vuze has a lot of useful bloat and great scheduling addons, so that's what i use.

I usually get anywhere between 5Kbps-250kbps, it depends on the torrent you're downloading and how well it is seeded obviously.

A well seeded torrent should net you 200+, if you aren't getting that speed, something is wrong.

Also, anyone know a good script/app to turn off torrent clients at 7:50am ?

in utorrent the scheduler should be like this:-

make a batch file to disconnect at 7:50AM.....
    this is the procedure:-
open ontepad and type the following:-
    rasdial username password /disconnect
replace the username and password with ur one.

BTW, there is no need to disconnect at 7:50AM as BSNL has changed and now u need not to reboot modem at 2AM or 8AM.

just shut down the computer at 8:01AM.

I can't shut the computer down at 8am, i have to leave it running.
I can't disconnect the modem either (not every day at least).

I need a script that will safely exit vuze or utorrent well in advance of 8am, so that i don't get any overflow charges (which still happens btw).

BSNL's own clocks are also conveniently off sync with the rest of India.

Right now I have a script that turns off Vuze, but it's a kill command that abrubtly shuts it down - this is ok but it messes up some torrents.

    Here's what I use : taskkill /F /IM Azureus.exe

after 8:00AM ur torrent will not be downloading and will be queued.
in that case if u shutdown ur computer without closing utorrent then there is no harm.

    SO make a batch file.

    open notepad and type:-
    shutdown -f -s
-s means "shutdown" and -f means "force applications to exit"
Save the batch file as Shutdown.bat anywhere and use windows task scheduler to schedule the batch file to run at 8:01.

Thats it ur done.......a message will appear at 8:01AM saying that ur pc is going to shutdown in less than a minute.

Don't know about Vuze but uTorrent has scheduling options. You can leave it running but with the scheduler, it will allow downloading/uploading from the start time till the end time.

That is his perogative. Maybe he is running some data intensive applications - or maybe it is a server of some kind.

Yes Vuze has scheduling options. But what I would ideally want is a way to completely turn off the torrent client at a pre-specified time.

I've tried kill but this leads to a sort of unsafe shutdown, I want the app to close safely.

I tried the latest version of Bitcomet last week. Speed was a lot higher and consistent that utorrent. But after 45 minutes it used to freeze my internet connection and all the downloads would stop. Went back to utorrent immediately...

    auto power on and shutdown....
it can close a program at specific time........and it has many more features.

but its paid.....download trial version and try it.

remember the name-"Auto Power-on and Shutdown".

I tried bitcomet a couple of times and have noted this.... The client always shows exagerrated speeds, in the sense that you don't get to download as much as the speed shows..... It is true with every client that they download some extra data in the form of padding files to accelerate downloads, but in case of bitcomet, it is very high....

Most private trackers have banned bitcomet from their site. Also, I have seen that with the same torrent, utorrent is able to connect to more number of peers than bitcomet...
