    Exclamation Chinese modems

My BSNL issued Chinese modem ZTE just stopped working yesterday. Most of my friends are having the same problem with the newly issued Chinese made modems which had stopped working after a lightning. Remember the previous modem which they gave worked perfectly even during the lightning storm. Why BSNL has been giving low quality modems to its customers.

    sorry to hear that.
If purchased outright, within a year BSNL normally replaces it. Say it is not working.
If on rental basis also you can get a replacement unit.
    2. Give details of the fault of the modem /make/number:
    Not working
    No led lights.
    Internet not connected etc.
    Check power adapter./ADSL splitter.
    Try without adsl splitter. etc

Lightning strike from telephone pole had two paths. ( to how many phone connections ?)
one direct to PS circuit internal of Modem.
and another to Lowpass filter of Telephone.
    If Phone is working confirm.

99.99% modems are made in China. So, go figure!

Yes even the Servers and network equipments at bsnl Exchanges too are from ZTE since they cost less compared to alcatel-lucent which they cant afford.

Perhaps it is not that BSNL or any other operator has all the types of Modems as a showroom
periodically they order for modems and what ever they get in the tender process, they are tested and offered to their customers.
whether Chennai or any other place, we have to mind that there is no electronic equipment that would survive severe lightening . we have to ensure that our electrical wiring etc has the required earth connection.
this protective earth generally breaks off after some time gap exactly at the place the wire enters the ground, due to corrosion.
I don't think the installer of Ground would have used any sort of anti corrosive coatings of the wire.
even the power strips we use and three pin sockets we arrange for PC etc, would not generally have the third wire at the residential areas.

thus I believe that there is No point in blaming China make or any other make.

My Adsl modem Beetel110BX1 ( imported)
Vonage VOIP unit/ Netgear wgr614 V6 all MADE In CHINA !
Working without problem for more than a year.
Also Huawei AX MT882 in use for more than two years.
Probably now, rejected/faulty units are supplied to
BSNL. ( qty involved in each tender can be
    in million units. Lowest quotation!)
Depends on our luck ! better not to buy Outright the modem/routers.

All Indian Companies tendering for supply,
import out of date modems/routers. and
    only change the Label!

I wish you should have been a member of the tender drafting and evaluation committee of BSNL. the specs and procedure are not that cheap or childish. Why would a company of China loose its chance to survival?

Perhaps as we are in general public, we feel like that.

Why not a Minister in GOI ?!!!! think big !!
Then I need not know even the not so childish complicated procedure !

May be you have not read of spurious drugs/ milk powder ( some chinese were hanged ),etc being exported by China.
I know all about Govt tendering /evaluation /etc.
( MORE DETAILS : sorry !Privacy factor involved) Example: Not much complaints about WA3002-g4. Identical model SEM DNA A211-I many complaints. Also about ITI DNA A 211-G4.)

    Para two;

You have missed the point. Read again.

you are welcome to become minister, that might be easier once a political party sponsors you.
I feel we should not take that an organisation like bsnl, would be so easily
    acceptong JUNK.
they do have varius groups for QA and approval wings still strong enough.

By undermining them, we are undermining our own brothers who are working there.
even in Pvt firms our brothers only work, but they have a facility to have a one man decision. while in a PSU, in order to prevent leakage, they have to follow set procedures and rules.

milk powder case etc, i do know. these types of mistakes keep happening in any country however strong and disciplined.
    we need to correct.

in our case, the O P has clearly stated that the re was a lightening that could have damaged the modem. that speaks for itself.

OK. you have the last word. "out of thread"

    .
OH! I did not know that . thanks for most important information.
You never heard of Independents fighting election, winning and becoming ministers. Good chance if I had stood for election in Jharkahand and won as an Independent .
Also you can become Minister for 6 months without being a M.P or without any political affiliation.

it attacks the modem more so and /or the exchange equipment where from it could reach back earth
if comes to phone, god forbid, it has to search for return path to earth thro' a mortal using the phone , if at all. thus other path is easy to reach earth
