Wanted to change to WI-fi password protected and i have SL2_141 (type-B0 modem
Keep MT882 as standby in working mode.
    No changes needed.
    See in the link given
    Select your router sl2 _141.
Or you need screen shots etc
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...tml#post208783 (UTSTAR WA3002-G4 quick reference)
see this link and select Chennai website.
    WA3002-g4 is similar to siemens.sl2 _141.

As my Home 500 plan is a limited plan, i want to password protect it for internet connect!

IF All computers /desktops/laptops work in WIFI mode/ and or LAN mode . You cannot control the data download once you give the password. In one hour approx minimum 400 to 500 MB can be utilised at average speed / surfing/downloads/ watching videos/ can vary person to person.
    Better change to Home 750 256 Kbps U/L 24/7
    and avoid "Blood pressure !""

if u want to use wifi security in this kinda modem then:-

    1) open up ur browser and type 192.168.1.1

    2) enter the username and password.the default one is Username-admin and password-admin

    3) go to wireless tab in the left pane.again in the left pane select "Security".

    4) Make sure ur settings r the following:-
    SSID-[the present]
    Network Authentication-WPK-PSK
    WPA pre-shared key-[ur desired password]
    WPA Group Rekey Interval-0
    WPA Encryption-TKIP
    WEP Encryption-Disabled(default)
so make u understand more i make an image.see it.the settings:-

    5) Save/Reboot ur modem.now whenever anyone goes wifi from ur modem he has to enter password.

    Unhappy

i got my wi modem model no: beetel 450BXI ADSL2 + Router

i have changed my security settings as enabled in 192.168.1.1 and setup a network key also

I use windows vista; and in my connect to option, can see my wireless connection, and is also showing the status connected

The problem is, in the network map, my Laptop (PC) is connected to modem and from modem it is showing as not connected to internet ...!!

When trying to diagnose the problem, it is saying that there is problem with DNS server...

can anyone help me with this prob... very urgent

and also i got only my IP Address
    i want my
    gateway number
    subnet mask

Now the WIFI modem/router model is changed to Beetel 450Bx1.
    Earlier you had mentioned SL2_141.
Both are similar to WA3002G4. ( same Hardware Board)
Same "medicine" sorry link is applied referred for this router also.!
    1. .
"Always ON" mode not "Dialer" mode
    2.
    In all computers/ laptop
    Start Network Lan or WLAN
    Properties
    Network sertings
    select TCP/IP
    properties'
    Select obtain ip address automatically.
    DNS also same, but
    enter 208.67.220.220
    and 208.67.222.222
    Apply Save.

    Feedback.
