Default Strange Problem with BSNL BB !!

    Hi,

I've been using BSNL BB (UL750) from 2005 (ever since they launched it) but from past two days there's a strange problem with it !

The Download speed is reduced to ~ 3 -4 kBps and browsing to 30-40Kbps !! if that was the main issue I wouldn't have bothered to open this thread !

The Problem seems to be only for download, coz the upload (via Utorrent) is spot on at 30Kbps !

Although I knew it was waste of time I still called their so called help desk, and the chick there asked me to do some random S**t,like change the DNS and stuff ! at last she says its the line fault and said will log a complaint !

It cannot be line problem coz, one the upload is fine second the SNR Margins (34.2 Downstream and 27Upstream) and Attenuation is perfect (19 Downstream and 7.7Upstream) !

So just thought to post here and see what you guys have to say bout this and also to check whether anyone else has encountered this problem !

    Regards.

    256Kbps Max speed 32KB/sec
seems to be only for download, coz the upload (via Utorrent) is spot on at 30Kbps !
    1.
    Reduce upload speed.
    2.
    Change Mod mode to GDMT
    3.
    Post SNR/ATTN adsl data.
    4.
    modem model/make.
    5.
    Check speed here.

    Airtel
    Thanks for the reply,

    1) Yes reduced the upload speed, completely exited from Utorrent ! Still same result

    2) Yes done that too

    3) Have already posted the SNR and ATT data

It cannot be line problem coz, one the upload is fine second the SNR Margins (34.2 Downstream and 27Upstream) and Attenuation is perfect (19 Downstream and 7.7Upstream) !
    4) Modem ITI Model DNA211-I

    5) tried it all, speedtest.com,2wire,abeltronica,our very own BSNL speed test etc etc.

But even otherwise without these tests I can tell that with just some random site opening ! it takes ages to load a page !

So there's something strange which is exactly what Am trying to figure !

    256Kbps Max speed 32KB/sec
seems to be only for download, coz the upload (via Utorrent) is spot on at 30Kbps !
    1.
Am not sure what you are trying to tell !! if its the 30Kbps that I wrote its a typo, actually I meant 30KB/Sec

did u check whether there are any downloads going on in the background by windows or any spyware/malware/virus?
Adi there are no other stuff running,I did check the task manager for unusual scripts running and found nothing ! I've scanned the PC via Norton 360 ! so thats not the issue either ! Thanks anways....

    Default Modem ITI Model DNA211-I

    @soundsgreat
Different members read something else from your post and pass
comments on other's replies and do not offer any suggestions.

how does one change the upload speed from his home or office?
that is set by BSNL I suppose!
    A great discovery !

I did not see any mention of office or Home anyway in your post.
I thought you were trying to get more D/L speed in torrents.

    Para two :
For complaint about D/L U/L speed, web browsing ,
giving data about torrents was misleading.
    2.
Your problem appears to be slow browsing and D/L speed.
For that a speed test at speedtest.net or at airtel site
    will be the starting point.
    3.
Now is it problem with your
Computer OS /Browser/ISP/ TCP/IP settings/ has to be pinpointed.
Since you mentioned , suddenly the problem started,
solution can not be given off hand. ( No instant solution .
at least not from me,, as I am not a professional)
    4.
    Anyway try TCP/IP optimizer from speedguide.net .
    and tweak the settings.
    5.
A Registry clean up and running Ccleaner (from filehippo.com)
also does no harm., even if problem is not solved.

    6. Postpone a software update for DnA A211-I . can try this also.
REF:http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...reference.html (UTSTAR WA3002-G4 quick reference) ( not updated)

    Feedback. .

HAPPY NEW YEAR to ALL in this forum.

    Hi,

For complaint about D/L U/L speed, web browsing ,
giving data about torrents was misleading.
I gave the upload figures from it coz its the only way I can properly check the upload speed ! even otherwise as I have said earlier regular DL and Web Browsing is also the same !

Your problem appears to be slow browsing and D/L speed.
For that a speed test at speedtest.net or at airtel site
    will be the starting point.
Have clearly mentioned that I have done that on various sites which offer these speed tests with the same results !

Now is it problem with your
Computer OS /Browser/ISP/ TCP/IP settings/ has to be pinpointed.
Since you mentioned , suddenly the problem started,
solution can not be given off hand. ( No instant solution .
at least not from me,, as I am not a professional)
Well thanks,I forgot to mention earlier sorry for that !

I did test the line with my friends Laptop which he is using currently with Airtel 1Mbps ! the results were exactly same as mine ! so again the PC is perfectly well and has no issues with it !!

Happy New Year to you and all others from me too !!!

    Regards.

From your ADSL statistics, I could not find any problems with the line. This is a unique problem.
Wish all of you a very happy New year 2010

Did that aswell but the result is same, I tried to download a network tool called wireshark with the same result,I tried to download from a private tracker (IPTORRENT) same result !!

So it has got to be something from the BSNL's side and I probably have to visit the exchange and see what they have to say bout this !!

Maybe there's a problem at the port at BSNL exchange. Ask them to change the port and then see.

soundsgreat another thing you have to cheak before you go to the exchange that the Lan icon shows to your system tray is it continue on I mean is it continue sending the data and receive the data when you not browsing the net and downloding the staff. If it's continue on ( blue in colour in XP ) then your computer have the virus which is eating your bandwitdh and not getting the good speed.

If the Lan Icon not shown in your system tray then go to your My Network Places - Properties then select your Lan connection then Properties then cheak on the option.

Buddy Am using Win 7 and as I have posted earlier its not related to Virus as I checked the connection through my friends Vaio which he is using with Airtel 1Mbps without any problems ! so its not my system thats Confirmed 100% !!

Thanks once again to all !

You should always post the solution for your
    original problem.
    Para two:
Forum should not be a "One Way" affair.
May not help all , but anyone accessing this thread, at later date, will have a poor opinion about the forum/its members/contributers..
I normally scroll and read all the posts,
but , it would have been better , if you had
given all the details again for your "new"problem ( after 21 posts ).

    Thanks for the info.

For any problem regarding Internet connections, first call BSNL CC /helpdesk

Their advise if quoted here, if unsuccessful,
will enable members to suggest/ try alternate solutions.!
