Arrow Quality of Service difference b/w various Dataone plans

Currently I'm using 750 UL plan and I'm pretty satisfied with the BSNL service. But, nowadays I'm not using the UL connection much and I wanted to shift to Home 500 plan. There is not much line drops, very few connection problems and the speed is consistent(30-32 KB/S).

I've heard some Home 500 users are unable to connect during NU slots. But currently I'm not having that sort of problems. Also, previously I had Home 500 plan and I was getting near to 2 Mbps speed at that time.

So my question is that if I shift to Home 500 plan will I get the same Quality of Service as long as I'm under the same telephone exchange ?

Is there any discrimination in the Quality of Service churned out to different plan users ?

No one can confirm this. Quality varies from exchange to exchange. member can only post past records of their exchange.

Best is you check it out yourself. or check with friends from same exchange using same plan.

Quality of service varies from exchange to exchange. If you are satisfied with the service provided by your exchange then nothing to worry just go ahead with plan change, different plans dont have different quality of service as far as bsnl is concerned.

People face disconnection, no connectivity and speed problems because of their DSLAM Port at exchange, line conditions not because of plan they chose.

Under same exchange, you will get similar performance. No need to worry.

BSNL's QoS depends upon the following:

    - your exchange
    - your line
    - distance between your home and the exchange
    - and above all, the people at your exchange

Changing the plan will not matter. So if you wish to, go ahead.

Get your line checked, if it supports 2 mbps,
My friend has horrible experience.... He shifted from 750UL to Home 500 C
& guess what speed not changed at all, & when he complained about it, he got reply: We have promised 256 kbps min for Home 500 C so there is no problem, then I met JTO, he just change port & voila speed became 2 mbps.....

The possibility of discrimination has been raised before, but it can never be proven.

As just4kix has very rightly pointed out, there can be various determinants of your QoS. I had experienced a noticeable decrease in QoS after shifting from a limited plan to an unlimited plan. But it would be wrong to conclude directly that the shift in plan has caused a downgrade in quality, without eliminating other factors. In fact, the officer at my exchange told me that UL users are given "lower priority" (whatever that means...).

So Sledgehammer probably shouldn't be concerned... since he had earlier got 2 mbps on his line.

As Sumit020 mentions, a change in port can very often do the trick - that is IF you get the folks at BSNL to listen to you. They'll first offer a dozen reasons why the port cannot and should not be changed.

Well there are many exchanges in India which are still using old cable line for broadband as well and new established exchange start using brand new wires so may be this is the only reason.

I asked this to a lineman of BSNL and he told us.

But however unlimited and limited connection have some difference. But if you have huge use of broadband than unlimited is best option.
