    Question Wrong/fake Usage Details by data.bsnl.in Portal. Help Me Please.

    Hi, I am comparatively new to BSNL broadband service & have subscribed to it from Nov 2009. I got billed for month of Nov till now & bill was correct. Even for month of Dec, it all went fine with BSNL data usages portal showing correct details of my usages. But the trouble is all started from 1st Jan, that is from the day before yesterday.

    Let me tell you first that I am on Home 250 plan which you all know, comes with a free data cap of 1GB per month. As the data cap is concerned, I frequently check usages from portal.

    On 1st of Jan, site was showing no details found message (As from the past 1-2 months of experience, I could tell its normal as site takes way longer time to update details. ). But as I logged to portal on 2nd Jan morning, I went into trouble after seeing weird usages details for same month (Jan 2010). It was showing 2 sessions details dated on 10-01-2010 (which is yet to come ). & the data usages of whooping 271MB & 51MB for those two sessions. (271 MB in one session is what I have never used till date in one session as 1GB free cap limit is there for my plan.) Most weird thing was the date of sessions. Still I kept patience till today morning but can't control anymore.

    (taken on today, 03 Jan 12:15 PM) Please carefully see the first three session details which are wrong. The third one updated somehow in mid tonight is showing session date as 12-01-2009 & the session time at when I never ever had used internet in my life. On to top all that, its showing around 290 MB data transfer for that session as you guys can see in screen shot.

    If I go carefully through session history, all rest of details are correct except those three. If I subtracts the sum of these three wrong data volumes from the total data volume for the month till date , that is 900MB-612MB then what it comes, 287 MB is correct usage for sure.

    Also I have changed connection password on the next day I subscribed to service (As per instructions given by BSNL guy who done setup). So I guess, there is not at all a possibility that my connection is hacked.

    Also I dial connections as per requirement. Technically you can say its in bridge mode to avoid unnecessary use. So there is no possibility that my modem connects automatically. Also the session dates are invalid as for now.
    My modem is type 1 modem (ZTE ZXDSL 831AII) supplied by BSNL themselves. No wi-fi so no other possibilities of being hacked by that way.


    I hope I have mentioned all things needed so you guys can tell what exactly should I do. I don't want to mess up in wrong billing. Should I wait 1-2 days more (assuming this could be normal thing in portal reading as I am inexperienced about BSNL broadband) or should I contact them immediately. To whom should I contact (I mean post of officer) so to get possibly immediate & serious action.I tried calling at their helpline sever times from morning but no one is picking the call. I searched this site to find about wrong usage cases with BSNL portal but couldn't relate mine one exactly with others.
    Any kind of suggestion & help towards this is welcomed.

    How is CC Chennai going to help out a user from Mumbai.?

    Well it seems customers on IP 117.xx.xx.xx are only having this problem.

    Mine too have fake usage: Look at first entry, it shows date as 20 Jan..

    Yes, This error from the BSNL. It is confirm.

    Hey mate, thanks a lot for your promote help! Waiting for your update from CC. Also as per adviced by you, I will contact & inform this to authority at local telephone exchange. I guess that won't be painful experience as as of now, BSNL peoples I had interacted while purchasing connection were quite friendly.
    Meanwhile, while browsing this forum, I came to know about similar cases posted by users today. So I guess, its a big server problem by their side. Hope it won't turn into billing troubles.

    About my location, yes you are correct. The location of my connection is not Mumbai. Its Pune actually. Basically I am from this city. Mumbai is my work place & most of the time I stay there. So I prefereed to put location as Mumbai. Even from 10th of this month, I'll be in Mumbai for rest of month. So it shall be very good if this issue gets sorted out before that.

    @ Sumit020,
    Same case like me. We both & many other users are in same mess. Trouble for me is more as I am on Home 250 plan & all such huge fake data sessions have been taken granted & added in total volume. On 3rd Jan means today itself, I am about to cross 1GB limit due to these fake values. Hope it get rectified properly for all such users.

    Sumit020 public are not authorize to cheaking it.

    anuj you are not going to bill those amount. This error is not for you and not only for you. It will be solve from the BSNL.

    And more importantly, how their server/portal can undergrow through such huge errors??

    Ok. Undertood now. I guess only exchange guys can access this server log thing. So it seems that they are aware of this issue following that it will get rectified soon & users like me & others won't have to suffer.

    Server is one. If there is a little bit error then it will suffer the all indian user of BSNL.

    Still, as for precaution & adviced by kind member essbebe, tomorrow I am going to inform this issue to BSNL exchange peoples.

    Apart from this issue, I liked the service of BSNL, right from the installation. Also I always get more than promised speed for H250 plan. Also no disconnection/downtime problems like that. I never had to visit exchange till date.

    Here's what speed I get.

    Normally around 4 Mbps & actual file download speed around 425 to 450 KB/sec. Plan as already stated, Home 250 (advertised speed 2 Mbps). When I subscribed to service in Nov 09 & took the test on very first day, I got speedtest result about 2.3 Mbps. Last month I took tests 2 times, speed was around 3 Mbps but after that as I took two tests again just few minutes back, results are in front of you!
    When I check speed on BSNL site, dataone; it goes crazy & always show false speed. Just now when I checked, it shown 6.78 Mbps speed..

    So I am quite satisfied with speed & overall service. But these billing problems here..

    It seems that there is a problem in BSNL side. am from Assam and I am also getting this type of usage reading.

    appears to me that BSNL is testing the
    NU function/s. The dates are different also
    sometimes.
    we may watch for another day or two.
    By 5th or 6th these advance readings may disappear.
    If not, all have to take up the matter with their JTO/CCexchange

    @essbebe. I think all this usage records are maintained from a single server. As many of us from different part of the country are getting the same problem. I have visited my local exchange & I have faced another problem. I want to avail annual discounted payment with 20% rebate as govt employee under 500c+ plan. The amount should be 5297.28 (approx) but the Demand note is showing only Rs 4236.00. The BSNL person is telling me that I should pay 4236.00 as because their computer is showing this amount.
    where is the problem? What should I do? Please put some light on this.

    Today when I checked BSNL portal, its still showing those 3 wrong sessions in my case but none other wrong is added though yesterdays data volumes are updated.

    Yes I am bit relaxed now. Otherwise I was about to inform it to BSNL guys. I was afraid because mine one is 1GB plan & I would have been landed in huge billing troubles if issue hasn't been rectified.
