    Default Broadband Plan Change Problem

Hello guys, I'm new to this forum.

I've shifted to Home 1000 plan from Home 750 unlimited.

According to given plan's mentioned speed, I should get atleast 360-370 kbps download speed but I'm getting just 170-190 kbps download speed which is very less even if you compare it with Home 500 plan.

When I talked to local BSNL authority, they said they cant do anything to improve this.

What should I do now ?

Do you know the e-mail address of any higher authority ?

    Waiting for your replies.

They say only up to 2 Mbps. There is nothing you can do. If you are so particular about a complaint, write one to the nodal officer and appellate authority. Address and phone no on the backside of your bill.

    @power_8383

In your modems ADSL Statistics you can find out to what speed you port has been set to check the Downstream Rate (Kbps):?? it should be 2048.

Test your speeds and post the results over here:

    1). Airtel

2). Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

Check the usage between 0200AM to 0800 AM
IF shown as 0 units against each date
    Your plan has changed.
    BSNL Portal
need 14digit usage portal Id and Pw password
    To be obtained from Exchange.
( not for Hyderabad users and abcd @dataone .in)

    @ Indranil

    How to do that ?

Hey, I've figured that out myself.
Let me chk if there is any difference now.

    @ Indranil

Tried changing the ADSL mode from ADSL+2 to G.DMT and even ADSL, but there is no difference.

And after some time, the ADSL mode is again automatically changing back to ADSL+2

    Sorry, it was my bad.
I was restarting the modem without saving the settings. (By pressing the button on the back of modem.)

Later I've used ADSL GUI's save & reboot feature but still there is no difference.

is it shows to you G.DMT at the ADSL log page or from the ADSL status page. It should be deferent in Download streem and Upload streem from the previous ADSL mode.

After changing the ADSL Mode to G.DMT, the data rates became

Data Rate 2048 Kbps 864 Kbps kbps

    Hello guys.

I was using Home 500 plan (256 Kbps/Upto 2Mbps) in which I used to get the download speed of 220 to 230 Kbps.

Now when I've shifted to Home 1000 plan (384 Kbps/Upto 2Mbps) in which I'm getting the download speed of 170 to 210 kbps.

I think I should get atleast 340 to 360 kbps of download speed with Home 1000 plan.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

For last five days I was just wandering round and round from one BSNL officer to another, but no one has given me the satisfactory reason or answer.

Infact today I've faced the extreme worst condition when the JTO-OCB (Head of Broadband Section) said that this is the best speed I can get in Home 1000 plan.

    Is this true ?

When I talked to 1800-424-1600 (BSNL BB Customer Care), they also said they cant do anything to this.

Please tell me what download speed one should get in Home 1000 plan.

    Desperately waiting for your replies.

From your Post No 4. server not mentioned.
    Download :- 1.52 Mb/s
    Upload :- 0.70 Mb/s
    Download tcp/IP optimizer from
    speedguide.net and check any improvement.
Download speed is never constant and varies
    due to many factors.
As per Home 1000 Tariff plan the minimum speed is 384 Kbps meaning 384/8= 48KB/sec D/L. Means you can download a file of 3 MB in approx 1 minute to 1 1/2 minute. Depending or line conditions/server load you may get more than 200 KB/sec D/L

Even with download Managers the speed will vary.
