    Angry Modem Firmware upgrade FAIL

My modem is UTStarCom UT300R2U. I recently downloaded firmaware named "UTStarcom Type1 - Mark 2_F45.img" and then when I began to install firmware in Modem Setup page, I accidentaly pressed "back" button while uploading was in progress. Now my modem's power light is off but DSL and Ethernet light is ON. What should I do ?Please solve my problem, I am using dialup now

Reflash the firmware, if fails, take replacement from BSNL.

Reflash means: how do you going to update firmware, do the same procedure once again. & Next time be careful not to run any program when flashing, keep your pc or laptop attached to UPS, don't do anything until flashing process completes.

Try resetting modem, or else get it replaced by BSNL, if you have rented it, they immediately change it but if you have purchased it, then you have to show it to mechanic or buy new one.

    You are most welcome!
Tell them to give same model of modem, because I heard bsnl is giving chinese modems to new or replacement customers.

I got replaced modem (old but working 100% fine) today

One word of advise : NEVER UPDATE MODEM FIRMWARE as long as it is working fine.

    Please post Device Info.
Screen shot. Is it same model Ut300R2U?
You can find the FW version
after opening accessing modem as usual.
    Type in address bar 192.168.1.1/look.html
Both Software version and FW version can be seen.
    Feedback please, if successful.

I have upgraded modem version successfully. One just has to be careful while doing all this. Otherwise you will be in trouble.

I too have chinese modem (ZXDSL 831AII manufactured by ZTE) but it works perfectly. I too was doubting about this chinese piece but I had no options as here, BSNL is only supplying this modem as type 1. No other options. But this one I got works nicely.

I am not facing this problem.. I meant haven't yet faced but if I, I'll force them to reply.

I am noting down the model number you mentioned. Might find it useful if any such case occurs.

Are there any other models available by other vendors like Siemens in Type 1 category?

UT300RTU is very good modem, majority of member in this site have this, so if face any problem let us know.
I'm talking about chinese modem's which were mostly problematic, I talked to store department incharge of bsnl in our exchange, he said they are getting only chinese modem's not any other.

My current replaced modem model is same as corrupted modem.

    Here is device info :

    Software Version: 3.08.02.UB.01.14_1357_100807
    Bootloader (CFE) Version: 1.0.37-10.1
    Firmware Version: UT300R2U.0011.01
    Hardware Version: UT300R2U 2.2
    Model Name: UT300R2U

This information reflects the current status of your DSL connection.

Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 865
Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 2044
    LAN IP Address: 192.168.1.1
    Default Gateway:
    Primary DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
    Secondary DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
I did not post Board ID info as it is not necessary.

By the way, It is my second time I replaced my modem (First reason was faulty and second reason was firmware currupt). I do not want to replace my modem again and again and I do not need to update firmware as current one is working prefectly.

By typing 192.168.1.1/look.html , I expected some detail like above..

Check whether in Advanced Options under NAT
you get Virtual server/port triggering/DMZ options. ( all three )

Here is info what u told me to do :

    NAT -- DMZ Host

The DSL router will forward IP packets from the WAN that do not belong to any of the applications configured in the Virtual Servers table to the DMZ host computer.

Enter the computer's IP address and click "Apply" to activate the DMZ host.

Clear the IP address field and click "Apply" to deactivate the DMZ host.

    seems like only DMZ Host

(Sorry, I am rookie so I can not understand fully about Network)
