Thread: How do you download videos from youtube?

This thread is only for newbies others please ignore.I have seen many methods in different sites to download videos from youtube.But i think my method is better than those.You need IDM for this, in IDM you add file type
FLV.From now on every streaming media will be catched as a link by IDM and can be downloaded as FLV.(few streams dont work!)

YouTubeGet also download the video from YouTube.

If you're using firefox, you should be able to pick up most videos from tools->cache viewer.

Other than that you're best bet is 3rd party addons and tools like :
1) Orbit Downloader (3rd party, can grab almost any embedded vid from most browsers)
2) Youtube downloader (you need the url of the video)
3) Download Helper (firefox plugin)

Internet download manager is not free so I wouldn't recommended it.

ClipNabber.com website supports downloading from many video sharing websites and supports downloading HQ video from Youtube.

Or use Orbit Downloader (freeware) to download any media files from any webpage with embeded/streaming video/audio content. You can also add more video/audio file formats to support.

Internet download manager is not free so I wouldn't recommended it.
In india its free.There are many torrent sites ready to give it for free.

I agree with you.

I use youtube downloader... less than 3mb file

This is a v.good technique.. Knew the file 'll be stored but dint know which one.. But this method of copy & changing the file extension is not permitted.. Have you tried rajesh?

Use Unlocker to Delete, Move or Rename locked files.

All the ideas seems good and interesting but can any one answer which one of the above given ideas takes lesser time than others?

this is what u get with IDM, u can even pause the download and resume at some other time

there are plenty of ways to do this.. a simple google search will tell you.. you can either get softwares or online services which do this for you

Unlocker supports Windows 7 according to FileHippo. I think I have used it in Windows 7 64 bit (not sure).

Use 'netvideohunter' addon on firefox. it helps downloading video files.

Many times it happens that you see a video on youtube and want to download it but due to bandwidth constraints, are unable to do so. Fear not, here is a method that i use and will definitely be helpful to you.

Steps To Download Youtube video :

1. Browse through Youtube as normal, Watching videos you like.

2. Now when you see a video that you like, the first step is : DO NOT CLOSE THE TAB OR WINDOW IN WHICH THE VIDEO IS OPEN. IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT CLOSE IT.

3.Now go to the following Location :

C: \ Documents and Settings \ *USERNAME* \ Local Settings \ Temp

4. Here you will find a file by the name of " fla*Some_Number*.tmp "

(e.g. fla128.tmp or fla36.tmp )

5. Thats the file that you have been Viewing, so just copy it rename it as "Whatever_You_Like.flv "

6. Thats It. You Have just Downloaded a Video from Youtube without wasting even a bit of extra Bandwidth. Now you can apply for that Rocket Science Degree you always wanted.

[ MAKE SURE TOOLS -> FOLDER OPTION -> SHOW HIDDEN FILES SHOULD BE ENABLED ]


If You Face Any error During Copy Paste use "UNLOCKER" software
