    Default Wireless Vs Cable

I am using a wireless modem. But usually i connect internet via wireless bcose the telephone line is 5 mtrs away from my room. While i connect net through wireless it displays 54Mbps while through cable, it displays 100 Mbps. Which is MORE faster while downloading?? Any speed difference when connecting the BOTH.

    Pls clarify my doubt.

There will be no difference. The speed shown by computer is your LAN speed and not the internet speed.

Although you have not mentioned your BSNL plan, BSNL will provide the following speeds:

    a) Plan UL750/UL750+: Max speed 256 kbps or 32 kBps
    b) Plan UL1350/UL1350+: Max speed 512 kbps or 64 kBps
    c) Most other plans such as Home 500, Home 500 C/+, etc: Max speed 2 mbps or 256 kBps

So your internet speed is much lower than the modem/router speed. The maximum intenet speed achievable is the speed provided by BSNL. This holds true for any other ISP as well.

As I said that there will be no difference in internet speed (downloading or uploading) - wireless or wired.

I think there is a difference.

Wire has lesser noise when compared to wireless. Also Wireless connections suffer from disturbance. This will not affect you speed directly but it affects the quality of the line. Which in turn affects the speed.

wimax, wirefree or whatsoever wireless technology specially cant beat fiber optics in speed and latency i use both wimax(Reliance) and Fiber optic from reliance but i get cent percent speed in Fiber Optic wire line with lowest latency possible but when i use wimax things go different speed fluctuates a bit and latency is high but great thing is i can use my wire line id on wimax!! without any hassle with no roaming charges.
