    Default Plan change confirmation

    Every month beginning, we see people complaining about plan change. Many of us were told by the exchange that the plan is changed but how to confirm it? Let us discuss a few scenarios.

    1. Normal plan to Night unlimited plan

    Download a small file between 2.00 am and 8.00 am. Check the chargeable units, if it is zero, your plan is changed.

    2. Normal plan to Unlimited plan

    Download a small file at any time and check the chargeable units. If It is zero, your plan is changed.

    3. Night unlimited to unlimited plan

    Download a small file during time slot excluding NU period. Check the chargeable units. If it is zero, your plan is changed.

    4. Unlimited plan to Unlimited plan
    Check the speed at speedtest.net. If your plan is changed you will see a difference in speed.

    5. Generic method

    Go to data.bsnl.in, post paid orders, enter the telephone no in the prescribed format and hit search. Check the table for the word provisioned and effective date.

    Go to data.bsnl.in, post paid orders, enter the phone no in the prescribed format and hit search order. Post the screen shot after blackening personal details. Another way is to download something during 2 - 8 and check whether it is charged.

    Your plan change request is yet to be processed. When processed, you can see it under post paid orders. Call the office where you gave the application and tell them to process it. Watch for the status as Provisioned and effective date. Read post no. 1.

    If your billing system is cdr(call detailed record) system then your request will be effected immediately i.e. as and when they punch in your application for change of plan.And in this system you have selfcare portal.And in your bill you have customer ID

    If your billing system is old (telephone omr and cmr provided) system then your request will be effected from the beginning of next billing cycle.In this system you check your usage through data.bsnl.in portal. And in your bill you have unique no.

    hi Dileep
    I have changed my plan on 16th of July 2011 and it is now showing in my selfcare portal as 'provisioned' from the above date. Should I take it as activated and start using it? There is no difference in the speed as of now. As per new plan I should be getting about 400 kBps but am still getting around 190 kBps which is the speed of my old plan.

    Cheers

    Please mention, plan applied for, old plan.

    There are some cases in 4 Mbps plans that they are getting 2 Mbps. So can't take it for sure. If both plans are UL plan, go ahead and use as you wish as it won't affect your billing.

    No my earlier plan was home-500 with night hours download free. The new plan is BB ULD-1350 which is unlimited with 4mbps upto 20 gb and 512 thereafter. My point is if the selfcare portal is showing that the new plan is provisioned, it must be available for use. BSNL guys here at local exchange are not sure though. Should I then wait for the first week of next month?

    cheers

    Now a days, plan changes are happening fast through portal. Check the usage. If the " chargeable units excluding night unlimited " is zero, you are on an unlimited plan. Also " provisioned" means activated. So I think you can use it freely. You may like this

    Hi, Dileep, here is the screenshot of my usage summary. Chargeable units are being shown as zero, but the usage is being recorded. The plan was changed on 16 july but the usage of 17 july is appearing in the chart. Any idea...????

    Cheers

    @meetdilip
    NOTE in the bottom of the usage screenshot byBSNL
    User may have to pay on proportionate basis for day usage.
    Now the summary on top will remain constant till end of month.
    50% chargeable?

    @meetdilip
    Another confusion :
    Uploaded is user's Download !! which is now 2284.79 MB
    Downloaded is user's u/l which is now........... 175.93MB
    Total............................................. ............ 2460.73 MB
    The data as above will be chargeable under Tariff 500(NU free ) plan ( less Usage on 16th and 17th both day and night )
    on pro rata basis. Only Half month's free quota allowed.

    Just saw a similar screen shot at TFI. Similarly upload is much higher than download.
