    Default Frequent Wifi drop

    Hi All,

This is my first post over this forum. I've read many threads and got pently of useful information from all of you. Thanks for this wonderful platform.
I’m using BSNL broadband (500C plan) from last 20 days but from last two days getting frequent drop of my wireless connection (once in every 5-10 mins). On Ethernet, internet is working fine, that seems to me that some issues with wifi connection only.

Today, I called to BSNL call centre and logged a complaint about it. They said it’s a known issue and depends on many factors. I've used Airtel broadband over 3 years but didn’t experience this issue, even once.
Please let me know if anyone of you encountered this issue earlier and know any fix?

    Thanks in advance.
    Rajat

All details available now. Listed in Ipconfig /all

    Dell Wireless 1510 Wireless-N WLAN Mini-Card
    Intel(R) 82567LM Gigabit Network Connection
    2
    .
Margin (dB): 13.3 20.7 just satisfactory
Attenuation (dB): 51.5 26.5 PROBLEM here
    Output Power (dBm): 12.3 18.5
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 4421 1069 (*probably Mod mode GDMT)
    Rate (Kbps): 2045 509 (*OK)
Rest, very rarely analysed or don't know how to !

Your line conditions are bad. BSNl must have laid
a new line ( Airtel connection will remain disconnected)
, and you can check cable contacts for rusting/blackening/oxidisation
    Intermittent joints etc.
( Ignoring , your report that in LAN condition connection is stable )

    3.
OK . CH 6 can be tried.

    4.
If you can try opendns 208.67.220.220 & google 8.8.8.8
    Recheck data as in 2

Just like to know what kind of frequently drop of wireless connection do you mean. Is that you mean you see no wireless connection or wireless connection is disconnected in your task bar or the wireless connection is present but you cant browse the webpage.
I would like to advice you that when you are not able to browse the page in that time do you able to cheak or open your routers GUI Web pages http://192.168.1.1 if you can then cheak this address also http://69.147.76.15
You also mention that you are able to browse the internet in LAN connection while your Internet is droup in your WIFI. But are you sure that while your Internet is droup in your WIFI can browse from your LAN connection on that time.

Thanks you all for your time and useful information on my query. Just for clarification, I’m finding wireless disconnection in my task bar on average of 5-10 mins. It comes up within few seconds after disconnection.

As essbebe pointed out, it's this what may be causing the issue. It should be below 30, ideally 20.

It's indicating the problem from your Laptop or from your WIFI router. You can test your Laptop with another WIFI enable router to test it is running good or have same case of disconnection.
Another thing you can do that if your WIFI is secure then disable your WIFI security and set it to unsecure mode for testing running good or not.

Another thing you have to cheak that what is your DHCP Lease time set in your router's DHCP configuration page.

I don’t have any issues in my laptop's wifi because using it at office for more than 10 hours on daily basis and not encountering this issue. If this is laptop issues then it should occur at office as well. As indicated by most of you, it seems to be internal wiring issues but surprised, how my connection worked well for first 20 days

Test laptop along with the router (used in your Home) in your office,
to eliminate Router is also not at fault !!!

It is the line conditions to your Home , or the ISP !

I have deleted all his posts and banned that id.

I spoke to a manager Ashish Sarin at Airtel who will look into this but stupid messages like this will not be tolerated. I have no idea why would this guy try to resolve Bsnl issues.... I have sent an e-mail asking for an explanation for the kiddish posts on our forum and untill we get a satisfactory reply this id is banned.

Thanks for giving a heads up on this essbebe.

IP location says : ESSAR HOUSE RENAISSANCE SPACIO thats in Bangalore... can anyone confirm that its Airtel's office in that building?

You can try to ping modem by using Netspeeder software and setting 192.168.1.1 there.
