Default Help with Port Forwarding in Siemens C2110

    Hello Guys,
I am new to this forum and don't know much about posting threads so please forgive me if my post sounds somewhat irritating.
I got a Siemens C2110 modem with bsnl 500C plan.I download a lot, mainly from torrent sites and usually get speeds of about 70-90kBps while downloading torrents.A few weeks ago I learnt that port forwarding helps in improving download speeds. For the past three days I am trying to port forward with this program called Simple Port Forwarding. But I am unable to create a static ip.If I try to create it manually,I can't connect to the net and if I try to create it with the help of that program,it gives an error message.
So please tell me how to create a static ip.Pleeeese.
Well...I couldn't delete my earlier thread which was the same as this one so sorry about that. Also,I forgot to mention my firmware version which is V55.1.04.10 just in case you need to know.

    Please check these two links.
Confirm you can access PF page in C 2110.
    The present firmware .
Do not attempt FW update now.
The static Ip is the IP of your system.
    Feedback
PS: Simple Port forwarding application , I think acts as a Proxy server. ( Not sure ).

If the Firmware is V55.1.04.10 i highly doubt if portforward. com's configuration will hwlp. I've tried it, didn't work . Any try it to see it for yourself.
Simple Port forwarding is an application which does the static IP and port fordwarding thing automatically for you.
It dosen't work either, they don't have the V55.1.04.10 in their list.

    @Rambo
If you are on "Dialer' mode change to "Always On"
    PPPoE, to access Advanced options.
    Please see this.

    A Firmware CHANGE is recommended.

    AT YOUR OWN RISK
    REFERENCE:
    Try 192.168.1.1/home1.html
Port Forwarding Utorrent on the Nokia Siemens C2110
    Feedback.

    @Nondiscript

    @essbebe:
Do you think I have to downgrade the firmware and will there be any problems
in the modem if I do that??

I have also checked the portforward.com guide about'How to set up a static IP address on a Windows XP computer'.What I don't
understand is which connection I have to make static, the Local Area Connection which starts when I switch on the modem or
LanRoad PPPoE Client where I have to type the user name and password to connect to the net??

You should reply to query raised.
1>Did you try in "Always On" mode?
    You are on "DIALER" mode.
No Port forwarding needed. all ports are open.

    2>.tried 192.168.1.1/home1.html ?

3>Could you access the Advanced options?

4>Do you have the FW version file/
    ( source reliable)?
( Type C2110 in search Box above.
In that thread all versions are given )
    DO at your OWN RISK

5>Static Ip is what you see in Ipconfig /all
    There are two.
    6>One your computer's 192.168.1.X select this.
and another the modem's say 192.168.1.1
( Not the Dynamic Ip allotted by BSNL or the Gateway Ip of Bsnl )

When you enter your USERID/PW in a 'Dialer"
    window in the computer, \
you are on Dialer" mode. No PF needed.

    2. In your modem if Userid/PW are already stored in the WAN page under PPPoE mode
    ( NOt "Bridged")
you are on "Always On Mode
    Port forwarding can be tried.
    3. How to get FW version, posted in previous Post.

Rambo what client do you use for torrent downloding. If you use utorrent then you can cheak that do you really need Port forwarding or not. Before testing it I can say to you that if you are useing Windows XP with C2110 and torrent client is Utorrent then you dont need Port forwarding. If you log in to BSNL ISP useing LanRoad PPPoE Client then there is no need to Port forwarding. To cheak that your utorrent port is open or not then first log in to your ISP then run your application utorrent then go to Options - Speed Guide then click on the tab Test if port is forwarded properly

Downgrade firmware only need at that time when you are in Always On Mode and the application you are running dont have the UPNP port mapping or you are in previous version of windows like windows 95,98 NT and windows 2000. This operating system dosenot support UPNP.

    Thumbs up All ports forwarded

Thank you guys for your help.

My phone line was dead for the last few days so I couldn't post any reply.Since I am in dialer mode all my ports are already forwarded but my PC Tools firewall was blocking all utorrent activities.Somehow I figured out the problem and configured my firewall to accept utorrent activities. Now All is Well!

Anyways thanks again. Will keep posting in the future.
