    Default Data-One Problem

    Hi frnds

    I have data-one broadband - Home-unlimited plan. I have been facing problem with connectivity. It comes and goes. BSNL says that they have done whatever they could and find no problem. They claim it is problem with my modem (Sterlite, Smart AX MT 882) and must change it. I want feedback if what they say is correct. How to test a modem and whether a modem can get spoiled and if yes then what could be the reasons. My modem remains on for at least 12-14 hrs daily.
    Would appreciate your help.

    Thanks

    Post your SNR and attenuation values. You may check your modem at your friend and find out. Borrow your friend's modem and try.

    Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser. ID and password is admin. Browse through the pages to find the SNR and attenuation values.

    The values are:

    UPSTREAM
    SNR=31dB
    ATT=10dB

    DOWNSTREAM
    SNR=12.5dB
    ATT=22dB

    i doubt
    generally downstream would be better than Upstream
    compare results from other people. and see this from me

    before any attempt to change Modem, better try change the adopter
    if that is noisy, it might give erratic results, perhaps.
    also check whether the INPUT is AC, then the adopter would just have a transformer.

    That depends on the condition of the Cable and Server load(BSNL).

    Interesting problem:
    Huawei AXMT882 Adsl modem.
    If Mod mode is Auto or ADSL2+ uncheck.
    select GDMT T413 or G lite and check.
    You may loose Internet connection also.if only one is selected.
    Disable Annex M.
    ( if available )
    then recheck D/L/U/L
    feedback please.

    Kb and KB difference is bits and Bytes.

    If the speed is 256Kbps means divided by 8 =32KB/sec
    so in a minute 60 x32 = 1920 KB can be downloaded.
    Usually you get a D/L speed of 10KB/sec to 25KB/Sec
    1024KB= 1 MB 1024 MB =
