Thread: Two Broadband connection in one lan

I have two business 3300 broadband planes. i want to make them working together in one LAN. Is it possible.????

do you have 2 modems? you could split the connection in your network meaning a few computers get connected to one modem and the rest to the other modem. maintain the same subnet and ip range i.e. all machines should have ip in the range 192.168.1.x ..

Give details of the modem/model/make/number.
I think you would have got two modems
Free under this Business 3300 plan.
To a single computer in the LAN both
ISP's ( should have been different ) won't work at the same time.
If one ISP fails the other will work.
How many computers are in the lan ?
Any switch/hub used ?

I've two modem, who provided by BSNL. one is HAWAI HT841 & 2nd one is NOKIA SIEMENS NETWORKS - 1600, one switch D-Link, IBM x-series Server, n computers in lan is 40 but we need internet on 12 computers only.

yeh exactly i want that if one connection is fails then 2nd will start work automatically.

or can we use it to boost up our internet speed.????

With existing equipments
not possible to switch over immediately.
As the ISP is same a single modem cannot be set to connect.
There can be NO speed increase.

(1)
connection 1 Modem 1 : "NS1600" to switch 14 computers in lan for Internet connection.
(2)
connection 2 ;Modem 2 Huawei AXMT841
connected and in standby mode.
(3)
If Connection 1 or 2 fails connect to No 2/ or 1.
(4)
Rest computers connected to switch, if enough Ports are available.
(5)
Disable Network connections ( if set)
(6)
Keep at least 4 computers for Internet usage as standby.
(7)
Does it work ? ! I am not sure.

Working together in one LAN is possible. But first you have to tell me that do you want to connect 6 computers in HAWAI HT841 and other 6 computer in a NOKIA SIEMENS NETWORKS - 1600 from a same LAN line with one switch IBM x-series Server.

thanks sir ur suggestion is valuable.... but i think it make me busy all the day. because our company is in rural area & connection with bsnl exchange is direct with 6 km long wire..... so network problem is occur very often.... i'll try it but want any other suggestion too from you sir.

yes sir if that is not possible as essbebe said. k 2nd connection can't start automatically if ISP is same. then it make us to think about this. i think it is possible with gateway.....

as for hawai i've to give 192.168.1.1 gateway in TCP/IP n for siemens i've to give there ip as gateway.????

Please see this picture . we need a load balancing router preferred edimax .
or await for @indranil's suggestion/s.

Total computers 40. 14 for internet connection.

Without Load balancer not possible to auto connect to active Internet connection when one connection is down.

The process below is for manual internet connection with usages of same LAN connection with one Switch from a two deferent ADSL.

First go to your HAWAI HT841 GUI Web pages http://192.168.1.1
and setup your HAWAI HT841 to PPPOE mode.
Then select which 6 computers do you want to connect through this modem.
after select those 6 computers then set up their IP address by manually in the TCP/IP field Like below
for Computer 1

IP address 192.168.1.2
Subnet musk 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1

Preferred DNS 192.168.1.1

for Computer 2

IP address 192.168.1.3
Subnet musk 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1

Preferred DNS 192.168.1.1

in computer 3,4,5,6 change only the IP address but set same Gateway and Preferred DNS in all 6 Computers

Then select those 7 to 12 computers which you want to connect through NOKIA SIEMENS NETWORKS - 1600 and set PPPOE mode.

Before select those computer you have to go the GUI Web pages of the NOKIA SIEMENS NETWORKS - 1600 by http://192.168.1.1

Log in to your NOKIA SIEMENS modem and go to LAN configuration from the GUI web pages of your modem.
Change the IP address of your NOKIA SIEMENS modem 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254
then apply or save settings.
After preassing the apply or save button you canot browse the NOKIA SIEMENS router's GUI web pages. You need to change your Computers getway IP.
Go to your LAN properties and set the IP address like below

IP 192.168.1.100
subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.254

DNS 192.168.1.254

after seetings this IP address and gate way browse the NOKIA SIEMENS router's GUI web pages from the address http://192.168.1.254
After log in to your GUI web pages then save and reboot your seetings what you have just made the change in the IP address of your Nokia Siemens modem.

Select those 7 to 12 computers which you want to connect through NOKIA SIEMENS NETWORKS - 1600

Set the IP address and getway like below

for Computer 7

IP address 192.168.1.8
Subnet musk 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.254

Preferred DNS 192.168.1.254

for Computer 8

IP address 192.168.1.9
Subnet musk 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.254

Preferred DNS 192.168.1.254

in computer 10,11,12 change only the IP address but set sameGateway and Preferred DNS in all 7 to 12 Computers

Remember for browsing the net through the modem of HAWAI HT841 need to set the Gateway 192.168.1.1 and DNS 192.168.1.1
and for browsing the net through the modem of NOKIA SIEMENS NETWORKS - 1600 need to set the Gateway 192.168.1.254 and DNS 192.168.1.254

Connect your two ADSL RJ45 cable in your switch D-Link and connect your all computer in this switch. You can browse the internet.

When one connection is down you have to chane the gateway and DNS of the computer with the Active connection's Gateway and DNS.

Shown in Modem Device Info is your Bsnl gateway.

This is different to my
present Dynamic IP is 59.92.2X.XXX.
Next time I connect this may/will/usually change.

IF you get a static IP this will be constant, and may improve connection/s.

Check up as above , and if it varies ,ask Bsnl for Static IP> for one connection and test.
With so many computers in LAN, speed 256 Kbps, is not sufficient.
Also Instead of a "Switch" a "HUB" can be used.

If case is closed here by using any other product line then its ok,

for the mentoined query, only option to use load balancer router....

You may use Edimax loadbalance router model BR-6624 and BR-6641, two model are available.
