Thread: how to connect ethernet switch between modem and pc

intially i connected my bsnl broadband modem to pc directly...
Now i want to use internet for 2 pc's...So i bought 10/100M Fast Ehernet Switch to connect..
When i connect modem to switch and from switch to pc....i can't access internet....
help me out ....

do you use a dialer to connect to the internet or does the internet work as soon as you switch on your modem? are you able to access http://192.168.1.1 ?

Always mention modem/model/make/number.
Do you need step by step instructions ?
ANY laptop computer with WLAN card ?

Intially no dial up....it connects as soon as i connect my modem

IN computer:
Start Network LAN

Properties
Network settings page
select TCp/IP
Properties
check
Obtain Ip address automatically
Apply save.
Same settings in other computer.
Copy/Paste data here. if any problem.
ipconfig /all

LAN rj45 cable from modem to switch.
connect both computers to switch. ports.
( enable DHCP in modem )
Select your modem from calcutta telephones link.
