Default Exceeding Usage Message from BSNL...

    Hi All,
I'm having 'Home 500C+' plan. Its 03rd day of the month and today I received two messages saying...

"You have exceeded BSNL Broadband Free Monthly Download Limit, Please Check Your Usage and be sure of Additional Usage Charges, To Upgrade Ur Broadband Plan Please Visit Ur Nearest BSNL Customer Care Center"
Do anybody else received the same? What does 'BSNL Broadband Free Monthly Download Limit' mean? Is it the same that each plans are having?
Hope I don't have to visit talk CC. I'm having horrible experience with BSNL CC .

Home 500 C+ has 2.5 GB limit apart from night unlimited. Check whether your night unlimited is counted as chargeable units. You need to switch off and On the modem a little after 2.00 am and a little before 8.00 am.

Check your usage here BSNL Portal

You may need your 14 digit portal ID.

Thanks for response. The total usage till today is 114.67 MB. I usually switch off my modem by 12 AM daily.

If I remember well, then some months back I show some post in IBF that BSNL is offering free 100 MB (not sure about limit) for online playing. Is it something related to that?

Is this the value in portal ? Did you checked now ? It may be a wrong intimation check with customer care. It can't be due to any offer. BSNL has a practice of updating the usage some 10 - 15 days later. Can be one of those case. To avoid confusion in future, try this

ShaPlus Bandwidth meter - Free bandwidth monitoring software

Are you sure that you haven't used a bulk download these days ?

The only way left is to check with the customer care. Most probably it is a wrong intimation. Other users has also reported similar cases. Use less till it is confirmed.

    Default Same prob here.......

    Hi all,

I am also got this sms. My BB connection activated on 2nd Fed 2010 and now Fed's billed usage is 2510 MB. I am in 500C+ plan which provides 2.5 GB (2560 MB) free data transfer and night unlimited.

Today is only 3rd of March and in the morning I got the same SMS "You have exceeded your free usage limit...."

    How could this happen?

One more thing....do BSNL calculate usage on a monthly basis....i.e. if my connection started on say 15th Jan then do thay calculate monthly usage from 15th Jan to 14Th Feb. Or, 15th Jan to 31st Jan and then 1st Feb to 28th Feb, 1st March to 31st March and so on......

    Please reply....

    Thanks,
    Prasenjit

Yes. BSNL calculates from 15 th Feb to 28 th Feb. Not one month slot. Did you checked the portal ? What does it show ? There are reports of wrong intimation from BSNL. Check your portal and confirm.

Yes I have checked the usage. For Fed's billed usage is 2510 MB and my free limit is 2.5 GB (with night unlimited). So I guess I have not exceeded it.

For the last 2 days I am unable to check usage on BSNL prtal. But within 2 days exhausting 2.5 GB is not possible and my guess is I have used maximaum 50 MB for last 2 days.

    Thanks.

Wait till you are able to check the portal. Maybe some night unlimited usage has been counted as Non NU usage. It is a common problem with BSNL portal, they do not update till 5 th of each month.

How good is this ShaPlus Bandwidth Meter as compared to DataFox?? Will it work smoothly with Firefox 3.5.8 as I hate using Internet Explorer . The thing is I have installed DataFox addon, and its not working!! I don't know why, though I think I do everything correctly. Does ShaPlus Bandwidth Meter WARN me if I am about to exceed bandwidth?? just wondering if you can help with some details.

Shaplus bandwidth meter and datafox are entirely different tools. Datafox connects to the BSNL website and fetches the data for you. Shaplus is an independent meter which calculates the usage of its own.

Shaplus is a very good and reliable tool. It gives an accurate data similar to the BSNL's portal. Please note that there is still an error margin of 50 MB. I am myself using Shaplus and has assure its performance.

I think some others are also report some error by datafox in the latest version of Firefox. Not sure. Never tried it.

Started using it and its amazing...Now I can keep track of my usage details on a second to second basis.. ...Is there any chance to configure it to set a bandwidth limit and a warning message?? I couldn't find anything like that in the settings... Thanx for recommending this software.

Shaplus does not have alarm settings. You can use bitmeter in tandem and set an alert when a particular limit is reached. I use both Shaplus and Bitmeter.

    @andy
    Source Google search
    Runtime ERROR 6 - overflow
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q171837/

The cause of a runtime error '6' overflow error is as follows:

Visual Basic does not evaluate Byte data type correctly in the if expression when compiled to Native code with optimizations.
