    Default VPN access in dataone

    Hi,
My BSNL dataone connection works fine untill I connect to my office VPN via CISCO's VPN client.

After connecting to VPN I get the vitual IP for VPN as well as subnetwork IP like 192.168.1.3 however neither can I connect to public internet anymore nor can I access any VPN resources.

Can someone point to me in right direction. My setup is below:

    Dataone modem/router : SmartAX MT 882
Wireless Accesspoint : Belkin (just used as an access point , DHCP services are used from MT882 only.

    -Thanks in advance
    Pankaj

looks to me like the binding order on your machine has to do something with it. under network connections > advanced Menu > advanced settings> make sure the primary internet connection is on Top and not the remote access connection

Thanks for replying. I did try that but to no avail. I have used this in US all the time , hence my suspect is BSNL

    Default VPN Woes

I am having the same problem. I am using AT&T Global Network Client to connect to my office VPN. The same setup used to work fine with Airtel Broadband (however that was setup as DUN in Network connections).

I am using Quidway WA1003A router+modem supplied by BSNL. I have enabled the DHCP Server in the router so that I can use my Laptop with the same settings in office as well as at home. By using DHCP assigned IP the laptop gets an IP address when it connects to the network. This is working fine without VPN and I am able to connect to the internet just fine.

Here are the things that I have tried out for VPN. In the modem configuration I have setup Port Forwarding with the built in rules for IPSec L2TP and PPTP since my VPN Server requires IPSec passthrough on the NAT device at home i.e. Quidway WA1003A.

I have NAT and Firewall enabled in the router settings. I have disabled the built in Windows Firewall for my LAN Adapter.

After several changes I have started getting a new problem. Now when I connect from the ATT GNC Client I get to the step where it says 'Negotiating Encryption Keys' and then fails with a message '!Error 231 Timed out waiting for VPN Server to respond during protocol negotiation'

I know that BSNL works with our company VPN since others are using it. However most others have the Type 1/2 modem (non-WiFi capable).

If anyone has made this work please let me know.

    Default VPN woes....

I too have a Huawei WA1003A provided by BSNL, and am not able to connect my office network through VPN. I have tried configuring the gateway in both "Bridge mode" as well as "Router mode", and it does not work in either of them.
My office has a NetGear Prosafe FVS114 VPN router, and I can access my office from a hotel room but not from my home.
Does anyone know how to turn on the VPN facilities in WA1003A?
I have tried by turning on the "Port Forwarding" options and they donot work.
Anyone having any ideas please help.
    Thanks,
    Sharma

    Default Access to AT&T GNC

Guys same here, even i am using BSNL data one broadband internet and when it comes to home to connect VPN application some firewall setting restricts it to connect. I`m a mechanical guy not a software engineer, but i figured out it works when i dis-connect my D-Link -512 wireless modem n connects directly with facility (I mean default modem provided by BSNL). I request software guys to look the reason of wrong selection i made in wireless setting modem. Is port forwarding has to something in it?

    Thumbs up

    Check if this helps

To change to the Bridging mode from PPPoE mode for connecting to your

    office network (VPN)

Type this url on your web browser : http : // (preferred DNS Server IP ) and press enter

You will find a window popup. Give username as "admin" and password as

"admin" and click ok. Once done, follow the instructions given below :

Advanced Setup -> WAN -> Click the Edit button on the Wide Area Network

(WAN) Setup page -> Next -> Click the radio button "Bridging" and click

Next -> Provide your username and password and click Next -> Next -> Save

    -> Finally click on Save/Reboot.

Your MODEM now reboots to get you onto the Bridging mode.

Upon doing this, go to CONTROL PANEL -> Network Connections -> below

Network Tasks on the left side window click on the "Create a new

connection" -> You will find a "Welcome to New Connection Wizard" window

popup -> Next -> Select radiobutton "Connect to Internet" and click Next

-> Select radiobutton "Setup my connection manually" and click Next ->

Select radiobutton "Connect using broadband connection that requires

username and password" and click Next -> ISP Name give as "DATAONE" and

click Next -> Select radiobutton "my use only" and click Next -> Provide

username and password and confirm password. Select the checkbox "Make this

the default internet connection" and click Next -> If you want, you can

add shortcut to your desktop by checking the relevant checkbox and click

    FINISH.

Now, everytime you wish to connect to the internet, you need to double

click on "DATAONE" and Login. It will then take sometime to authenticate

before connecting you to the internet. Please note, at this juncture, your

primary connection down below will show "Limited or no connectivity" and

you dont have to worry about this.

For reverting to your previous connection method, disconnect from bridging

. Double click on the "Limited or no connectivity" symbol -> Local Area

Connection Status window will popup -> Click on the "Properties" and make

the following changes as given below :
    Use the following IP Address

    IP Address : 192.168.1.103
    Subnet Mask : Populated automatically
    Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1

Use the following DNS server addresses :

    Preferred DNS Server : 192.168.1.1
    Alternate DNS Server : 218.248.240.135

    Press OK once entered.

As sone before, type this url on your web browser : http : // (preferred DNS Server IP )

    and press enter

You will find a window popup. Give username as "admin" and password as

"admin" and click ok. Once done, follow the instructions given below :

Advanced Setup -> WAN -> Click the Edit button on the Wide Area Network

(WAN) Setup page -> Next -> Click the radio button "PPP over Ethernet

(PPPoE)" and click Next -> Provide your username and password and click

Next -> Next -> Save -> Finally click on Save/Reboot.

Your MODEM now reboots to get you back to PPPoE configuration.

AS ALWAYS with Microsoft Operating System, at times if your computer

cannot recognize this configuration change, a reboot is recommended.

    Default The fix is working

    Hi Shri,

The fix is working fine. Thanks for posting it.

I have a Ustarcom WA3002G4 router which is wireless enabled. But this fix works only when I'm connected through the LAN and is not working when I'm connected through wireless. I earlier used BSNL in 2 different places and in both those places I've accessed the internet in PPPoE without any issues.

I'm now using at my home town (village) and here I had to use Bridged network to gain Internet access. Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Vinodh
