    Default Frequent disconnection in every alternate day

    I'm facing a peculiar problem with BSNL service. there is a frequent disconnection ( from 2-15 min average ) over whole night unlimited period (2-8 pm). sometimes download rate decreases to even 40-50 kB/s, while I usually got 160-180 kB/s in utorrent. speedtest also showed that huge fall in total speed. Just next day total thing is opposite with only 1-2 or sometimes no discoonection throughout the night with very good speed.I'm in Kolkata. I would like to know any in Kolkata facing same problem or not. My line is quite OK with SNR and atteneuation and ADSL2 unchecked.Is it a plan of BSNL people to restrict download size within a limit.

    @Kanu
    I think your line have some noise. pick up your Telephone receiver and try to notice any disturbance sound or noise you hear. If there is some noise then you need to call your BSNL Exchange to repair your telephone line. Test this process at that time when you are getting Frequent disconnection.

    I am from Kolkata and I can say you that there is no plan from BSNL people to restrict download size by using this process ( disconnecting and reconnecting ).

    If posssible you can post your ADSL Status screenshot here.
    Take a screenshot of your ADSL Status page at that time when your modem getting frequintly disconnection.

    @Indranil
    you are quite right. there is a lot of intermittent noise while I pick up the receiver. so that would be the cause of disconnection. I got exchange people few days back and got my line repaired. that's why I was so confident of my line status.

    You have to complain again and tell them that your line has noise. It would be better if you talk to your Exchange DE External.
    Remember that your line not only means your Home line, I mean not only the telephone line from your home to your outside telephone box. The line also mean your outside telephone box to your Exchange. If there is some problem then you get the noise or craking sound.

    Say you got perfect line on EVEN days
    and Line Noise on ODD days !
    Means your BSNL line keeps track of ODD and even days!!! to function normal and abnormally with lot of noise !!!!!

    I've been getting intermittently horrible latency and occasionally a string of packet losses every hour or so in Kolkata.

    The problem seems to crop up during the nighttime period primarily.

    Although there maybe something wrong on your end, if you get normal pings to indian servers, and very high pings to foreign servers - this is definitely something wrong with BSNL's routing.

    download a tool like d3tr or colasoft ping tool, to see a graphical representation of pings/multiple tracerts:
