Thread: bsnl unsecured wifi(reply urgent)

I have been using my neighbour's unsecured wifi on my laptopfor downloads and they got excess bill,they use the connection only for vonage phone.Now they have complained for the excessive billing will the bsnl people know that i have done?

If you are the only BB user , in immediate vicinity, and the neighbour knows about it, the "needle of suspicion" will be on you.

Drop a postcard or make a phone call to "neighbour" to disable WIFI or use security key.
or advise them to choose a U/L plan!
Say Home 750 U/L!!!
BSNL also will do the same.

This is like advising a "thief" that he should warn his "victim" to take precautions to avoid theft !!!!

For vonage wifi mode not required.

there many around vicinity but the only thing i would like to know is if the bsnl people can findout the pages i browsed using my neighbours wifi

and i would like to tell you that they never use their computer system only their vonage phone but the bsnl people installed type 2 modem without securing it.

i have told them the same but as this was the first time i was using any other's wifi i am stressed somewhat now i have stopped using it for the past fortnight.

it is easy to find out. All they need is to find a session you have used and check the cached pagesat the exchange. Better not to repeat it.

i read they can only know the mac address?

I do not think that they has the records of everyone`s usage as there are so many users....................
But if they have(lets imagine) then they do not going to check for a single user. They only claims on the user having that connection. Thus you will be safe.

whatever the records be taken by BSNL, nobody for sure can pinpoint that excess to u. There might be somebody else too in the neighborhood that is misusing this wifi connection..but it is a shame that u have conned some old folks..

SEE I DIID NOT KNOW WHOSE WIFI I WAS USING BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE AN SSID AND ONLY CAME TO KNOW TO AFTER THEY WERE BILLED.yes I FEEL GUILT FOR WHAT I HAVE DONE AND HENCE QUIT IT FORTNIGHT AGO.

hey, u could also tell them or bring this new scheme from bsnl to their notioce somehow..

The main reasons for non-payment of Broadband bill/s are reported to be the customer getting a bill for usage of Broadband beyond his expected usage.
