Yes. They keep the record in their server like we store the history in our computer. But it is not used unless there is a specific request from police or competent authority. Otherwise people will simply use proxy and start sending anonymous messages.

    Have peace of mind.
Investigating agencies methods are not to be discussed in public.
using WIFI ( unsecured )will/can land the
innocent person in trouble. He/She should take necessary steps to avoid misuse of the Wifi connection.
As I told earlier Wireless can be disabled in their modem, as Vonage does not need WIFI mode.

Just go to this web site:
IP Address Geolocation to Country City Region Latitude Longitude ZIP Code ISP Domain Name Timezone NetSpeed IDD Country Code Area Code Weather Station Code Weather Station Name Database for Developers | IP2Location?
See how close you can be located!
    Worst case scenerio:
All houses/ flats / will be searched and laptops etc seized for analysis!
within a radius of say 100 feet.
I hope you read in Newspapers about Security concerns in this country.

It only keeps dns records but what I don't know is whether there's a way to determine which users have send what. Also some pages you view are ssl. They I don't think wack their brain for cracking for days.. What they keep is dns records. Just think what BSNL would have to do if they start keeping records in database. Such a massive database will require contracts in millions of dollars.

If bsnl is interested i am bidding for that contract.

They will get the cheapest solutions from me.

Be in peace answer is in no.
