Default ITI DNA A211 LAN not working !!!

    Hi,

Last night, my internet was working fine (both thru LAN and Wi-fi).

This morning, the modem LAN was disabled i.e. I could not connect to the modem(192.168.1.1). I could not connect my desktop and ping the modem. DSL LED and WLAN LED were blinking. But in my network connections, LAN was not getting connected.

Regarding Wi-fi, initially I could not find my wi-fi network. But later found that wi-fi connection named "ITI" was my own. i.e. the name which I had given was reset to "ITI".
After connecting to it, i tried "http:192.168.1.1" and saw that in wireless tab, all the settings were reset. MAC filter, PPPoE mode, and connection name were all reset.

With LAN disabled in the modem and Wi-fi settings reset, I panicked and pressed the "reset" button at the back of modem. ( i am thinking someone hacked my modem ?? dont know if thats true.)

After pressing the reset button for 15 seconds I restarted the modem.
And now only power LED was there... DSL,INET and WLAN LEDs were off !!
    desktop still doesn't get connected.

I called up customer care and they told that Hyderabad server is down. They asked me to call them in the evening when server will be up. But the disabled LAN on the modem seems to be a hardware problem.

But my concern is that even though server is down, I should still be able to connect to my modem thru LAN(192.168.1.1) and set my modem wireless settings.

I tried assigning the IP address manually, but with modem not detecting LAN, that also didn't work.

Dont know if thats because server is down or my pressing the reset button caused this ...

    Please help !!!

    Thank you.

After Reset , understand you cannot access 192.168.1.1
    Option 1
    :
    Start Network LAN properties
    Network settings page opens
See on top box for Ethernet card.
    click
    configure
Check "enabled or Not . also other options
    like restoring drivers etc.

    Option 2 :
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/tikona...-settings.html (Access 192.168.1.1 modem settings.)

Modem could have gone "DUD" which is unlikely.
    Remove Rj45/Rj11 and reconnect.
    Option A;
2.Since you reset the modem, your userId PW entered in the wan page have been removed.
You have to re enter the same.
then check Diagnostics menu and report.
    Option B:
Create a Dialer and enter User ID and password in computer screen.
    Feedback.
Hope you have changed the dns entries.

Yes, I have changed the DNS entries...

I can change the WAN pae settings only when i can connect to it in first place

my concern currently is not the internet which is anyway not working as Hyderabad BSNL server seems to be down...

I am not able to connect to the modem. cannot ping it.
    http : // 192.168.1.1 is not working

I am trying to connect to modem and hopefuly change the settings...
In the network connections icon, it says 0 bytes received. which means modem is not responding...

Do you think what happened in the morning( that my modem settings were reset) was due to some hacking attempt or any technical glitch..
Can anyone screw up the modem hardware by hacking it ?

You are repeating the same thing again and again.
If you cannot access modem settings
    No hope.
    2.
Try to exchange modem at BSNL CC.
( whether purchased outright or on rent ).
this model SEM or ITI DNA A211-I is "buggy "

    Hi All,

Just to update on my problem...
my Modem had gone bad !! as the LAN was not working...

went to BSNL office and they tested it but could not set it right...

they said that the modem has only 1 year warranty...
Unfortunately mine had finished 15 days back...

Luckily, they decided to exchange the modem with a spare one.. (not a new one) which someone had returned.

    Earlier model - ITI DNA A211 I
    Exchanged Model - UTSTARCOM WA3002G4

Hope it will work fine... have to go and test it !!!

    ......
    .......

Just checked it ... its working fine !!!!

    Thanks everyone.
