    Default 3rd party modem

My friend wants to buy a third party wifi modem + router. He do not wish to buy one from BSNL. Can you suggest a good modem. When enquired the shop keeper asked he said they are available in different standards. It is some thing like 802.xxx. Can you please tell me which standard he should buy.

    Thanks in advance

    Another doubt

Suppose we connect a modem to a wireless router and PC through wireless, will we be able to connect using Bridge mode. ie, I have connected the modem and router and I am not in PPPoE is it possible to connect a laptop using wifi.

    Thanks again.

    2. If you mean, that you need the modem to be "Dialer Mode " .possible.
see guide by @justf4kix in "broadband How to ........)
Mention model/make of Adsl modem and
    wifi router being used.

IEEE 802.11 protocal is a set of rules for the wireless local area network.
currently in market 802.11b and 802.11g protocols are avalable in the Wireless Router. 802.11b has a maximum raw data rate of 11 Mbit/s and 802.11g has 54 Mbit/s. Popular is 802.11g.
Currently in market 802.11n avalable with speed upto 108Mbps. But the manufacturer saying it's a 802.11g. I dont know why they are saying this.

The company D-Link, Netgear is good. Currently Netgear has wireless speed upto 108Mbps.
I think 802.11g or 802.11n is good for purchasing.

This is not possible. You are allrady in Bridge mode in the modem. You can not connect from a wireless router ( which dosenot have RJ 11 port ) using PPPOE from desktop.

Yes it is possible, you can share files and folder using this wireless router between Lan computer and wireless computer without using pppoe. In this section this wireless router act as a switch between wired computer and wireless computer.
