Click my signature below , It was 1499 plan's speed that I used for 2 months i.e. Dec 2009 and Jan 2010-> download speed 1.16 mbps and Upload speed 0.67 mbps. Fo few times, I even saw around 1.80 mbps speed but for few seconds and for upload speed, sometimes it reached around 0.75 mbps.

Overall, 1499 is good plan for moderate downloaders but It is not so good plan for heavy downloaders.

Waiting for next new plan on BSNL's FOOL DAY this year

this feb they have corrected, only after grandly looting customers(in billions per annum) I have paid Rs2000 extra usage even taken care to restrict my download to freetimes.
But 1499 is UL plan so my January bill was same as before i.e. 1499 + tax, that is it. UL plan users do not have to face problems like limited plan users having 500 plan have to. So, UL plan is always safe. Of course, I used to have 500 plan for 3 months but It ruined my health and if i have to sleep then disconnection would worry me and also a lot of nightmare.

I have been using BSNL broadband for almost 3 years under HOME UNLIMITED 1350 plan at 512kbps.

I didnt had any issues with that except some annoying technical issues which leads often break-down in my connection. I call customer care after two or three days they would call me and reset the port in their exchange. This Happens for once in every month.

ON Jan 10, 2010 BSNL announced "WORLD'S WEIRDEST PLANS" As advertisement on "THE HINDU"

1 MBPS "UNLIMITED" at INR 1499/-

I thought already i was paying 1350 rs for 512kbps and if I add another rs. 150/- i would get doubled the current bandwidth.

Immediately I went to my nearest BSNL customer care center and enquired
plan details. The customer care agent assured me that it is an UNLIMITED plan at 1mbps speed. As the brouchers of plan details were not availabe in that center, I had no other options instead of trusting that gentleman . i Subscribed to 1mbps UNLIMITED plan.

On feb 1, 2010 this plan came into effect. Speed was well enough for download. To my surprise within 5 days my speed dropped down to 256 kbps from 1 MBPS. I immediately raised a complaint in "1500" customer care and even contacted my area BSNL junior Engineer for help. On feb 16 2010 I received a call from bsnl that my plan is 1 MBPS UNLIMITED but if i cross 25GB download my bandwidth will change from 1MBPS to 256 kbps. This came as a shock to me.

    NOTE:-
    1) This is not 1MBPS UNLIMITED plan. Your download is limited to 25gb per month and if u cross that limit your bandwidth will change from 1 mbps to 256 kbps. my question is if there is a limit of 25 GB then why the hell BSNL falsely advertising as 1mbps unlimited .

    2) Customer care in BSNL is just to fool people. People in customer care dosent have any product knowledge and recent plan updates.

    3) I work at a BPO supporting an ISP abroad, even i got fooled by BSNL and what about common man.

    4) If there is a 25 gb limit they should have informed me when I enquired about the plan at the time of plan change.

    5) For browsing 256 kbps is more than enough, speed always matters for heavy down-loaders like me, if I was told that there is a 25Gb limit I would have never minded even considering to change my previous plan(512 kbps unlimited at rs 1350/-)

I've been a loyal customer to BSNL always, But today I feel that I've been terribly CHEATED by BSNL. Never trust anyone

BEWARE Of BSNL new UNLIMITED plans...it is just to fool you.

The BSNL website does not covering all the internet plans and tariff details. Even if we contacted an executive, he too know only by hearted plan details. Anyway this is much helpful to beware the cheating in the ads.

Absolutely correct. This is what happened, in the new unlimited schemes, announced on 23rd march. Only help line people said about GB limit and speed reduction. Subsequently 0n 25th march they have advertised in the newspapers about GB and speed limit.

tas far as me there is no fault with bsnl. you have not looked it properly. Remember always when you signing up for services like this you should also read the small print attached with the tariff that will explain more to the tariff. This is a common practice used by companies all around the world. so this is not cheating. its you have to read all the small notes, and check what is fair use policy means and bla bla. understood?
