Angry BSNL Plan change fees and security deposits.. Help

    Hi,

I had posted before regarding plan change. Everyone in the customer care centre says there will be no "extra" fee or deposit for plan change. But i'm bugged man. First of all, they have collected "SECURITY DEPOSIT" from me in the first bill of Rs 500/-. I quote BSNL:
"No security deposit for BroadBand Connections upto Plan 500 and for CICs on bulk connections (>25) subject to an undertaking by CIC."

So, was it wrong of BSNL to collect security deposit for me? Is there security deposit on Home 500 C and C+??????? What can i do? Bill already paid.

One more important thing, i've given plan change request for 500 C to 500 C+, will they collect security deposit again, it being still the same Home 500 plan with some modification?

Please help guys, i don't want to pay them twice when i'm not supposed to pay a single rupee!!!!!!!

Initially when i first took 256Kbps UL, i paid a security deposit of 900 Rs. After some 2 yrs i changed to 512Kbps UL,during which i was again charged a deposit of 1350 Rs. When i asked Customer care to deduct the previous deposit of 900Rs. they asked me to produce the bill showing the payment of 900Rs as deposit initially. Since i lost the 2 yr old bill, i have to pay them a security deposit of 1350 for the new plan. This is what happened to me. Now, i am using Airtel, You can never get your deposit reimbursed with BSNL, So i didnt pay the last one month bill.

    BSNL
Did you give them disconnection notice ?
Have you stopped using BB service ?

The intial deposit may include telephone charges deposit for STD ISTD , Advance rental for BB, Installation charges etc.
If you had paid by Cheque , check your passbook , and give the date of payment.
All records available in their computer.

Give a written application, for disconnection, get a receipt for the Telephone surrendered
( if provided by BSNL ), and modem ( if on rent ), and attach photo copies to your application for disconnection.
Get a stamped receipt from CC .
President of India, ( thru BSNL)will ensure your security
deposits are returned after deducting , dues to BSNL from you. ( when ? No time frame !)

If you dont give disconnection notice, phone if any will be still active for incoming calls etc.
even for a day in a month before disconnection in a month telephone rental will be charged for full month.

Yes, the deposits are ofcourse refundable. But when its mentioned that "NO SECURITY DEPOSIT UPTO PLAN 500" in the BSNL website, then it means that they should not take deposit for any plan upto 500. I don't know what's wrong. Anyways, i plan to use BSNL for a LOOOOOOONG time to come, so i'll get good value out of my deposit and to be frank, i'm NOT disappointed with the service at all. With a bit of self help, and ofcourse this wonderful forum, we can all handle the cons of being a BSNL customer.

But this prospect bugs me, "EVERYTIME I CHANGE A BB PLAN, I AM SUPPOSED TO PAY ONE MONTH RENTAL AS SECURITY DEPOSIT WITHOUT GETTING THE PREVIOUS PLAN DEPOSIT ACCOUNTED FOR". I'm sure BSNL accounts officers will take up the issue if properly approached. I don't even think they have not thought about this. But i'll keep you posted of my specific scenario : Plan change from 500C to 500C+, and that if it will incur any extra deposit and will try to change to other plans too and see the outcome :-)

So, finally, in my post paid order, the status of plan change to 500C+ shows provisioned from 01/03/2010. I asked the CC too and they also said that it has been changed.

Still no news of the Security deposit in this month but im still worried because this is not the first bill of the changed plan...

Just wanted to know if i can start using the 2.5GB limit from this month.

Best way, will be ,to check up your
    usage in portal BSNL Portal
or use FireFox browser with DATAFOX
to monitor usage.( For Chrome browser under development )
From the SUMMARY at end of the month, you can deduct your free day usage 2.5GB or 2560 MB

Ya, i use BSNL portal, but it doesn't say "How much is free" like 1.5GB or 2.5GB...

It just shows the chargeable units, that's all, which here is 1.5GB or 2.5GB, both are correct, just depends on the plan is changed or not.

Pls enlighten me on other usage meters. Can we track free usage based on any plan?

You can try Tautology meter, DU meter or Bitmeter.

    YES. BB Home U/L 499.
But BSNL accounts may not check up you have the old deposit. Computer billing may automatically deduct Rs 499/= when plan is changed.
Check when plan is changed Effective Date in MY Orders. ( If from April 1st will be billed in April bill. )

Better to give an application NOW itself. and ask for credit of Rs 250/=
( mention old bill number Date)
get a receipt stamp in your copy from CC .
    .:Unlimited Home Only:.

Have you got Rs. 250 adjusted when you changed to Home 500 ? I think you can claim that your Rs. 750/Rs.500 is already with BSNL. I think there is clause in BSNL terms that advance rent is available only to plans which costs Rs. 500 or above. So in effect your plan remains short of this limit. Try talking to the Accounts Officer of your exchange. He is the one who takes the decision.
