    Default Internet connection disconnects at 6 in the morning???

    This typically happens only between 6 and 7 in the morning and NOT during the day. Within this hour, broadband connects/disconnects after every 2-3 minutes. Is it because of heavy traffic during that hour for downloads and all or is it just in my case. The problem is my downloads stop when this happens and I have to re-download the files again since the IP changes and I cannot resume my downloads. How to correct this problem? Download managers can't help as I do not have premium account and they are helpful to resume downloads only if I have a premium account in rapidshare or megaupload. Any help will be appreciated.

    There are methods using which we can get premium links. Try one of those sources. As far as disconnection is considered, your SNR and attenuation values will be able to give an idea. Also try setting no. of active downloads as 1.

    where do you live ?

    I regularly see this problem; particularly between 6am-8:30am.

    Shitty & fluctuating latency; occasional packet loss, disconnection every few days.

    I think it's legendary bsnl reliability at work here.

    However I'm pretty sure airtel is worse, so we're kinda stuck.

    If your internet works mostly fine (like mine), SNR/Attenuation/line quality will probably be normal.

    Usually latency starts going up at random times during the night (if you run a tool like D3TR or a ping test tool, you will see latencies to US/EU servers go from 300ish to about 500 or even 700).

    At this point you will typically have a dropped connection or just wasted nighttime downloads (NOTE: bsnl isn't responsible for reliability so even if you can't use the internet ever during the night time, you won't get bonus bandwidth or a refund).

    If you are lucky the shitbad routing that bsnl was using at the time will get less congested and the situation will improve.

    If not, you are stuck with it for the next few hours at the very least.

    You can attempt to disconnect/reconnect a couple of times - this sometimes picks a different routing path which may or may not be better.

    However doing this can get you blocked by the BSNL authentication server for a few hours too.

    @gaggan4392

    Thanx for the reply. Honestly, I have no idea how to look up for the details you mentioned. Could you help me out here please?

    @meetdilip

    My connection is only 2 months old. I am using BSNL Broadband 500 Home Plan.

    @rsen

    I am in Durgapur. So, probably you are correct.

    In IDM or your download manager, set your no. of active downloads as one. To get the SNR and attenuation values, type 192.168.1.1 in your browser, ID and password admin. Browse through the pages, you will get SNR and attenuation values. Post it here. As I said earlier there are websites which give premium rapidshare links. Search on net and get hold to one. By that way even if it is disconnected, you will be able to download after reconnecting.

    Your SNR and attenuation values are poor. No wonder you are facing connectivity problem. Get your line checked by the line man. Ask him to remove joints and damaged portion and give you a new line. The following figure will give an idea how the values should be

    @andy
    Please confirm the the modem is Siemens 2110.
    or mention modem/model/make number.
    May be Changing the Mod mode may stabilise the connection ( equivalent to GDMT/ Adsl2 )
    and recheck SNR attn data again.

    It seems ok. Are you facing any problem with your connection ? Normally there will be a difference between upstream and downstream values.

    Thanks meetdilip..I am gonna have a long chat with the line man tomorrow and explain him the problem. I really appreciate you guys chipping in with some very useful advice...otherwise I would have been running around making trips to the BSNL offices...

    Thanks meetdilip

    @andy
    For reference : Add to book marks
    C2110 (Type-A) ADSL MODEM MULTIUSER CONFIGURATION
    more on your feedback.
    This is what members will try to
    improve as per table given in this thread.
    SNR (Downstream) 6.5 dB
    SNR (Upstream) 13.5 dB
    Line Attentuation(Downstream) 34.5 dB
    Line Attentuation(Upstream) 72.5 dB seems unusual

    Well, not yet...and its too soon to tell...will have to see over the next few days...nevertheless, has the data improved slighly (I think so !!! ) ? Your data seems to me VERY GOOD by the table you provided for comparison previously...
