    Default Unknown Bandwidth usage

    The moment i connect my broadband my bandwidth usage increases rapidly unknowingly.
    I m not able to locate what happening. Even all the auto updates r also cencelled.
    Last month my usage was about 3 GB. I have BB 250 plan.
    Plz help me Plz........plz....

    A possibility of a trojan or browser add-on cannot be ruled out. There are some free softwares that can check which programs/processes are connecting/accessing the net. There is a DOS command also but I forgot about it.

    Install Zone alarm free firewall and Bitmeter. Bitmeter will show you when there is a download when the system is idle. Zone alarm will tell you which process / application is accessing internet. By this way you can identify the hostile application and fix it.

    I recommend a scan using CA Yahoo Antispy. It comes integrated with Yahoo toolbar.

    Go to:
    Task Manager > Resonance Monitor > Network > Network Processes

    If you find any thing that is not usual and consuming speed, End Process it.

    Leave svchost.exe , it is a system process and browsers.

    If you find anything unusual download a antivirus and scan your PC.

    Try Anvir Task Manager FREE.
    anvir.com
    you can check start up applications.
    processes running .
    memory usage.
    CPU usage etc.
    FireFox Browser with add ons can keep your download within limit.
    What are the applications , which appear in Task Bar?
    What is the Antivirus/antiMalware programs you use ?
