Default MODEM UT300R2U, config page showing PPP down!! Urgent help...

    Hi,

I have UT300R2U since december last year, didn't have any issues related to modem. But since yesterday, its behaving oddly, the internet green light didn't come on after switch on for long time. So i opened the modem page and the status there was "PPP down". I tried reaching CC last night and was informed that there is some line problem and servicing is going on. I thought wow, BSNL working till 11 in the night!!!!

But that seems to be the CC's standard explanation to any connection problems.

Anyways, i connected somehow late at night and browsed for half an hour. I again came back to attempt in the morning and now through afternoon, the "PPP down" issue is happening very frequently. I don't think it is DSL problem because i AM able to connect for short periods, like 5 to 10 mins, and the internet green light again goes off, and i find that the modem page again shows "PPP down" and the diagnostic page under "Test the connection to your Internet service provider " shows 3 FAILS, all related to PPP. All the DSL tests show PASS.

Please tell me if this is modem fault. Should i try to hard reset it, if yes, please tell me the procedure, before and after pressing that button. Could this be a permanent modem fault?

    anyone please..................

    1.
Make a backup/save current settings of modem to say c:/My documents/ Ut300r2u settings march 12th.
    2.
Check and change DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 208.67.220 220

Not able to post images since not reached limit of posts...

All the details are normal as far as DNS, default gateway and ip addresses etc... since i was connecting normally all this time.

I read other posts on PPP disabled, one time it was problem on the BSNL server side... but as of now i'm connected continuously for 2 hours.. no disconnection in that time... If i face it again, maybe i'll come back for help on hard reset.

Anyways, just as a help for people reading, do you know what is the replacement clauses for modems, both rental and outright?? On rental, do i have to pay for replacement, and what abt outright?

You can upload as annexure and give it here.
Select in your post "Go advanced "
    or
upload at say tinypic.com and give the link here.
Post adsl data. ( limit is 15 posts only )
    Select FAQ in Tariff page.
You have to convince that the modem is faulty.
for exchange on rental basis: outright purchase normally one year replacement made.
