Default Help needed to connect WiFi

    Hai all,
I just joined this forum after applying for a new BSNL BB connection.
I got my BSNL BB connection 1350+ U/L and got it connected to my computer.
Modem Details : Teracom Type II ADSL 2+ CPE / IAD
    Model : T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y-B1

My problem is, I am able to connect to the modem through LAN Cable.
(I did all that 192.168.1.1 business right and was able to connect to the net)

But when I try to connect to my Laptop to the Wireless connection, I am failed. The available wireless networks in my Laptop displays the SSID name BSNL_AP (I didn't want to change the BSNL default name, until I am successful in getting thro WiFi!); but when tried to connect to the wireless, it shows "windows was unale to conect to BSNL_AP". No WPA-PSK Key entered by me in configuration pages.

I tried with 3 different laptops, XP, Vista & Win 7; and get the same error in all.

Will be gratefull to receive help from forum members.
    Thanks & Regards

    1.
In TCP/IP properties select obtain IP address automatically.
    2.
    In modem enable DHCP
    3.
Post Device Info screen shot of router
Save as Jpg picture, go to " Go Advanced " and post as annexure.
    4.
    Copy/paste ipconfig /all
    5.
Test with this tool. 517 KB.
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/attach...1&d=1268620458

    http://www.zamzom.com/download/wirel...ic%20setup.msi

    Para two:

Above tool, can be used by other users who have unsecured connections, and track, who all connect to the network.
    Feedback please.

    @krish_alone99

Just go to your Wireless Network Connection >> Properties as seen in the image below.

Now in properties window select SECURITY TAB and enter the WPA Pass Phrase given in your modem that is "1234567890" to the Network Security Key

You should get the properties of the Wireless network. ok check it out here

Control Panel >> Network and Internet >> Network and Sharing Center

Now from the left side of the window select Manage Wireless Networks.

Is your wireless network listed their with the SSID set in your modem i.e : BSNL_AP if yes check out the thing mentioned in post # 4.

The procedure in post# 4 worked for me. The WPA pass which is set in the 192.168.1.1 needs to be set in the Wireless properties to connect to the network.

    Thanks for the help essbebe

Well, the laptop's wifi is definately ON, it can detect the wifi connection, it just doesnt accept to connect to it.
The modem's wifi, (HIDE SSID) is also set on NO.

    @bobinbc

what is the error you get when you try to connect to the wireless connection.

Please refer post # 4 (Help needed to connect WiFi). enter the WPA Pass if the same is set in your modem.

Im not hiding the access point, although it says that, I cant find an option to change this.
Im attaching screenshots of what happens.
I connect to the visible router.
    It denies a connection
It gives this report on trying to diagnose the problem.

I have tried the steps as mentioned, but it still gives the same error.

The BSNL people came over and solved it.

I had to change the setting under MAC Address filter, from 'select mac auth' to disable.

    Thanks.

Anyone knows how to access a device from the USB port in this device???

    Default Got it Sorted

    Hey Frnz,
I too got it sorted out as per bob's solution in the last post. The culprit was MAC filter setting. I am sailing smooth now and that too wireless. Thanks a lot IBF.

    Default Problem Solved !!!

    Hai Friends,
Thanks a ton to all for replies and help posted in this thread.

First of all, I am sorry for my delayed update on the issue - since I was away from home these days and could access my home internet only a couple of days back.

Well my problem is solved in the most unexpected manner - and that too very simply.

Couple of days back, the JTO of the local BSNL office called me to enquire whether my new BB connection is working fine. I replied that it seems ok with LAN cable, but I am unable to connect to WiFi from Laptop through this "Type II" modem.
He just replied - "No the Modem is not yet configured for WiFi; you will have to bring it to the BSNL office to get it configured. He said that the modems are not WiFi enabled by default to ensure security and are enabled only upon specific requests from customers !!!"
I took it to him yesterday and he did some configuration adjustments to the modem and it started working !!

But there was another sub story to this issue. In fact the quality of the Internet through LAN Cable was very poor and it kept on dropping very frequently. (Due to some cable cut by Electricty Board people, the whole city's BSNL Broad Band was out of service for 2 days earlier). So I was not sure whether the poor quality of the BB connection is specific to mine or global for all BSNL customers in the city. The call from the JTO came as a blessing in disguise and I took the "Teracom" modem to him.

He tried to connect through the Teracom modem in his office to his 100Mbps connection .... thank God.. the modem did not respond at all.. thus making it clear that the TERACOM MODEM WAS FAULTY !!!

He then supplied me with another NOKIA SIEMENS modem, as a standby and it is now working like fire in my laptop through WiFi.

    Regards to all

Default Teracom WiFi Modem Configuration (T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y.BI)

    Dear All,

Due to security reasons, WiFi is disabled on Teracom T2 Modem (T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y.BI).

You need to follow the following procedure to connect the WiFi:

    1. Open the webpage of the CPE
    2. User Name : admin
    3. Password : admin
    4. Go To Configuration -> Wireless Network -> Basic Settings
    5. Enable the WiFi
    6. Select 64 Bit Key Encription instead of Wireless Protection Access 2
    7. Select method "Direct Key" instead of "Pass Phrase"
    8. Give any 10 digit numeric key in Key Field.
    9. Click on Confirm Button.
    10. Go To Configuration -> Wireless Network -> MAC Address Filter
    11. Select Disabled instead of "White List".
    12. Click on Apply Button.

Now you can connect your WiFi Laptop / PC with Modems.
