    BSNL is not available in Delhi and Mumbai. If your neighbour has an MTNL connection, you too can get one. Talk to the right person in the exchange. Tell them that your neighbour has this connection. You can also check the back side of your MTNL bill. There will the address and phone no of the Nodal officer and Appellate authority. Make a call and speak to them. You may also try a visit to your local exchange for better result. Always mention your area when posting doubts. People be able to give accurate answers that way.

    We have no choice but to cope with the MTNL employees. Better try a connection from Airtel. They are equally good and in some cases, better.

    @gaggan4392

    you can go for airtel, you dont have to terminate you bsnl landline connection for that have it too.

    I think now a days there is no rental for landline connection if going for broadband so this way you can have one more number.

    EVDO is a good choice. But enquire before you take the connection. When I enquired, I was told that in my place it gives only 144 Kbps.

    But EVDO can give up to 3.1 Mbps speed for just Rs. 750 per month. Please note that the speed and quality of service may vary according to distance from tower and no of users.

    BSNL FAQ

    Q. What is the difference between CDMA 1x and EVDO?

    CDMA 1x is relatively older when compared with EVDO in terms of speed and performance. While CDMA 1x offers 144 Kbps, its successor EVDO offers up to 2.4 Mbps.

    Thanks Rajan..

    So if 3G is based on evdo, how is it speedier than evdo.. (3G = 3.6 MBPS / EVDO 2.4 MBPS )
