    Default speed in internet

iam using BSNL BB home 500 unlimited at 2-8 AM and getting a speed of about 300-400 kbs with premium accounts and 90-120 kbs with free account, but recently i downloaded from megaupload free account and got the speed of about 250 kbs and i completed the downloads of 2 GB in 6 hrs with megaupload free account as i have queued the download and put 1 download at a time and slept and when i woke up at 8 all downloads completed, and now getting the speed of only 50-60 kbs, is it my system problem or BSNL or can any setting be done in my system

    There is nothing to do............
You have downloaded 2 GB in 6 hours which means speed of 97 KB/s which is normal.......
You can only get half speed in free account........

If you get full speed then you can able to download more than 3.5 GB in 6 hours....

Do you know how these websites works and how give half speed to free account users???

They first give full speed for first 1-2 seconds and detects how much is our internet speed, then in 2 sec gives very low speed and in next 2 sec full speed and this cycle goes on till download completes.............

Just download "Network meter" sidebar gadget and you can able to see this......

Go to speedtest.net, perform the speed test and post the forum link. Please note that it will consume around 15 MB of data.

No problem at all, but u can consider some tips to increase the internet speed as follows

If you use Windows XP Professional then it is possible to squeeze an extra 20% out of your internet connection. By default Windows XP Pro holds back 20% of your Internet speed for various services like windows update and spyware checks.

If you want to tap into this locked speed then make the following changes:

    1. Go to Start-> Run-> and type gpedit.msc
    2. Expand the Administrative Templates branch
    3. Expand the Network tab
    4. Highlight QoS Packet Scheduler
    5. Click on Limit Reservable Bandwidth and check the enabled box
    6. Then Change the Bandwidth limit % to 0 %

Once you have done this click apply and restart your PC. After rebooting you should see a noticeable improvement in your net speed. Rest is depend on your broadband plan (New Home plans for BSNL Broadband Customers).

with megaupload we can pause the download and put the files in queue and sleep and all the download will complete, if not we can continue the downloads next day
