    Default Net Disconnection

    Hi All,
I have a broad band connection from BSNL. The problem is, I can connect internet only for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes it is getting disconnected automatically. The modem is ON and on my task bar I can see the network connected icon also. My modem always shows INTERNET – ON, LAN – ON, DSL – ON.
Once I restart the computer I can browse again for 10 minutes. The same thing repeats again. I replaced my modem, and cables but no improvement. Then I updated my Anti virus. But still it is same.
My modem details are as follows.
Supplier – Syrma Technology Pvt Ltd.
Manufacturer – Fujian star net communications.
    Model Name – Type 1
    Model Number – S4U+ V1.0.

I have tried almost everything that I know. If anybody have any clue about this problem please help me out.

    Thanks in advance,

BSNL has not released USB drivers for this series of modem (as far as I know). You can use the ethernet port instead.

seems the modem/router menu items /board are similar.
Try the USB drivers from here.
    Teracom Type-II ADSL MODEM MENU

    2. Check Teracom link for screen shots.
    sample page:

    3.
Without connecting the usb cable download to say C:/My documents/ teracom USB drivers.
    4.
Restart system after connecting router usb port to system Usb port.
    5.
Let Windows detect New hardware. and ask for drivers.
    6.

    @vincentraj
Why would you like to use usb port when there are 4 ethernet ports are available?

I think you don't have ethernet port in your computer.

If it is true then you can put an add-on pci ethernet card from dlink and have seemless internet experience.

Erratic USB drivers poses problems like this system hanging or no internet after certain times, from what you said it appears that usb drivers locking after some time so you are not getting internet after 10 minutes.

Moreover, BSNL is neither supplying the support cd nor the drivers for usb port of this modem.

I strongly suggest you to have an add-on ethernet card if don't have on-board lan and it just costs you around Rs.300/- and have a nice internet experience.

If your ethernet card came with the PC, drivers might already been installed. Me too use ethernet port. No need to install drivers. Please mention the make of ethernet card so that we can try find suitable drivers. Or go ahead, spend a few bucks and get yourselves a new ethernet card. It will come with driver CD.

Have you configured the modem properly ? Which mode are you in ? Bridge or PPPoE ?

If in PPPoE, simply enter the cable from modem to PC. Thats all. But if you are in Bridge mode, you need to create a dialer.

PPPoE = ID and password stored in modem. You can connect to internet just by switching ON your modem.

Bridge = ID and password need to be entered in the dialer. You need to create a dialer (one time process) to access internet.

If nothing works, change the LAN card and check. You can also seek assistance from BSNL. Tell them your net is not working and ask them to fix it.
