Changing DNS servers won't do anything. I use Google DNS. Still they redirect me to motive. I guess when you connect to Bsnl, they send you to that motive page. DNS servers just translate that address into an IP number, which is same wheteher you use BSNL, Open dns or AT&T.

If you use Firefox 3+, try enabling warn redirect and reload page option found under Tools > Options > Advandced > General.

Maybe something similar exists for IE. Try looking or asking others.

I have figured out a way to completely stop the redirection to motive.bsnl.co.in ( MOTIVE AGENT as it is called).

First, download CCleaner from CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download.

Install it and on the interface you have the TOOLS option, then press the START UP option and you will find various programs. Select the HKLM:Run --> MotiveReportAgent program.

After you have found the MotiveReportAgent program (Highlight it),click on the option (to your right) DISABLE.

Then exit the program and you will no longer be redirected to the MOTIVE website when you browse the internet.

    Hope this works out.

Unhappy How to solve redirection to motive.bsnl?

I have gone through the forum and no solution is visible.i could not find this motivereport agent in my comp..really frustrated..
i googled a lot and found that this is dns hijacking by bsnl and many ISPs abroad also do this to promote their services. Some info is provided here (indigic.com/2010/08/how-avoid-browser-redirection-motive-bsnl) if it helps..I also talked to local BSNL guy and he dint even know about it!!!

They all know about it as it is done by them to redirect you to the motive site voluntarily, you can not do any thing excepting blocking this site. The same problem occurred to me and now I am not getting the motive site automatically. So, this means that they stop this after certain time i.e. if they feel that users are aware of the motive site.

I have made that site my homepage !
So every time I open the browser, it opens and there is no problem further
Complaining won't do any good, I have sent numerous e-mails to the site, there is no response, it is like they are dumb !

Thumbs down Still have this problem

    hi all

after i started this thread , i was having this redirection problem and all i was too frustrated with this problem.. did everything , but nothing worked. Even ccleaner couldnt fine any motive agent ..

it automatically stopped redirecting me for some days... and now again i m facing this problem .. but this time they have come up with new website with new contents...

They have mentioned that "customers using Windows Vista and Windows 7 kindly proceed browsing by opening a new window/tab and typing the URL"

I just don't understand why cant they provide support for vista and 7 ... all new pc's now comes with either of these operating system. Even Microsoft has stopped providing support for windows xp now.

And this redirection happens anytime.. not just when we first open our browser.. it happens anytime .. it has happened while i was making payment from my credit card !!! although i got my money was not transferred. but its inconvenience to customers.

it typically happens after my modem automatically reboots and first thing it does is to redirect me to this BS website..

If cheaper connection would not have been an issue , ( Read Combo Plan) , these guys would have lost many customers,, but who cares .. their jobs are safe.. i doesn't matter if they work or do just time pass and eat samosa and tea ...

Anyway we cant do anything .. Guys just come here and tell your frustrations here.. that way you can feel lighter

    Try this by @ Suvo

try this then and let me know

    go to start>run>drivers
open the hosts file in the etc folder(use any editor, preferably notepad)
you will see the localhost adress 127.0.0.1 of your machine at the end
in the next line copy/paste this
    127.0.0.1 motive.bsnl.co.in
    127.0.0.1 wxw.motive.bsnl.co.in
your browser will never find that bl**dy motive site as it will be redirected to itself.everytime your browser will give a message like cant find this site.but after sometime the msg began to bug me,so I changed the 127.0.0.1 to my homepage IP
Don't use the software from that site. Known to corrupt the system/modem setting. Yes, it will give maximum speed. It is just a special privilege for BSNL users. Your speed will remain 30 KBps for other sites.

your plan has a maximum speed of 32 kBps and don't install any software from that site.many people complained that the software screwed up their connection and their modem.better not try it as it completely unnecessary.

also try the solution dilip posted above.i have been using it for many months now. no redirection at all.
